Thanks for the memories - ironic, I guess, but truly appreciated.

I was living on the Jersey Shore when the Towers fell. The smoke travelled down and turned our little paradise into hell. Remember what a perfect weather day it was?

I remember it was a clear day, no precip. I remember that because the skies were filled with fluttering white entities. Gulls? When they started hitting my windshield on the way home, I was startled to see that they were pieces of Xerox paper from the offices torn asunder at the WTCs. There was also the blackest-of-black column of burning jet fuel rising across the horizon at a 45 degree angle. That was what I got to look at the whole drive home. The blackest of smoke (very symbolic, IMHO) and pseudo-gulls of Xerox paper.

I had severe respiratory problems for an entire year after 9/11, coughing up solid chunks of yellow mucus. When they finally razed the buildings, it was an ON/OFF switch was suddenly turned off, and the coughing up mucus stopped immediately. G-d knows what I had been inhaling for a year.

What is even more interesting is that the EPA denied any decline in air quality! According to them, the air was fine. Try telling that to my lungs, jerks.
