Turkey Is Organizing Freedom Flotilla II To Get Additional Aid Into The Gaza Strip

The IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, a Turkish NGO, is organizing “Freedom Flotilla II” to go to the Gaza Strip, loaded with humanitarian aid.

Bulent Yildrim, the organization’s president, said Sunday the organization was trying to get the legal procedures and paperwork done to send the vessel into Gaza, according to the Middle East Monitor. No sail date has been set. He added the ship would be flanked by Turkish military to avoid the bloodshed that took place the last time Turkey tried to send a flotilla.

Haaretz reported Sunday a shipment of medicine had arrived at Ben-Gurion Airport intended for Gaza. Turkish Red Crescent was responsible for the air, which was about 20 tons of medicine and healthcare supplies sent on a Turkish Airlines cargo plane. The newspaper reported the medicine was been stocked in the airport before the transfer.

In 2010, the IHH and the Free Gaza Movement, a human rights organization, sent three flotilla ships to try to breach the blockade. The crew and passengers clashed with Israeli forces when the Israelis raided the convoy.

Israeli forces stormed the lead ship before dawn and clashed with those aboard in an attack that made global headlines. Nine Turks were killed, leading to a breakdown in Israeli-Turkish relations.

Well, it looks like Turkey wants to break through the Israeli embargo to prevent Hamas from gaining arms, which tells us pretty much everything we need to know about Erdogan and his approach to Middle East peace.

If Israel destroys the Flotilla, Will Turkey now find a pretext to get involved militarily?

Isn’t Turkey a NATO member?

Why are they allowed to take unilateral action when all other members stand put?

Uh, I forgot, they’re Muslim and, as such, they are granted privileges that others don’t receive. They are even granted the right to side with the enemy.

Boats can sink. Especially boats invading another country’s
Known defense perimeter. And especially when the boats are military or “military- escorted.” And most especially when they’re sent with such openly- hostile intentions. (Perhaps he plans to load his gunboats with all the freedom- seeking Turkish political opposition? Just a thought )

RE: Why are they allowed to take unilateral action when all other members stand put?

Remember Flotilla I in May 2010?

The flotilla, was by the Free Gaza Movement and the Turkish Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief.

It was said to be carrying humanitarian aid and construction materials, with the intention of breaking the Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Shayetet 13 naval commandos boarded the ships from speedboats and helicopters in order to force the ships to the Israeli port of Ashdod. On the Turkish ship MV Mavi Marmara, according to Israel’s own report, the Israeli Navy faced resistance from about 40 of the 590 passengers, including IHH activists – described in an Israeli report as a separate “hardcore group” – who were said to be armed with iron bars and knives.

During the struggle, nine activists were killed including eight Turkish nationals and one Turkish American, and many were wounded.

The five other ships in the flotilla employed passive resistance, which was suppressed without major incident, although many of the passengers on board all ships were beaten, some ending up with broken bones. The ships were towed to Israel, where all passengers were detained and deported.

NATO said nothing about that...

Of course in the end, the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC, composed of among others, Arab countries) released its report on the Israeli boarding and seizure of the vessels. The report found that the Israeli blockade of Gaza is illegal, and therefore, the boarding and seizure of the vessels was illegal, that the detention of the passengers was illegal, that the confiscation of the passengers’ possessions was illegal and there was willful killing on the part of the Israeli commandos.

As usual, it’s Israel’s fault.

If it is illegal to block access to Gaza, it could then be assumed that Gaza is its own country? And if that is the case then should it be safe to assume that Gaza declared war on Israel.

I can't wait for the entertainment to unfold. Israel can & will direct the "NGO" to their harbors to be inspected first. And the Turkish military escorts, if they are stupid enough to put up resistance against the Israeli navy, will find themselves in a deep watery grave.

The Turks are like any of the other 57 muzzzlim states. They love to talk tough & to demonstrate & launch terrorist attacks, but in reality they are scared sh_tless of the Israelis and will turn tail & run the moment Israel fights back or retaliates.

Evidently, you are not familiar with Turkish military history.

Yes I am, and Yes it does. That was then, this is now. The last thing that Turkey wants is for their navy or fighter planes to go head to head against Israel.

Muzzies talk tough and act tough when they have overwhelming odds in their favor. But even with odds of 1.5 Billion muzzzies vs 7 million in Israel, Israel kicks the sh_t out of muzzzies no matter what. And that would include Turkey as well.
