What a mess this will be, supervisors of these loose cannons need to be held responsible, I have had people working for me for years, I knew who was responsible and who should push a broom. Mistakes happen, but a choke hold is a totally irresponsible act in this situation, no ones life was in jeopardy. I'll bet the officer has a history behind him of being a bully with a badge and his coworkers and boss knew it.
Now we get the Jackson, Sharpton show, the violence that follows and it all could of been avoided

Because of so many incidents, daily it seems, the presumption now is for the citizen or perp against the police. It wasn’t like that when I was young and not entirely law-respecting. In some ways it was more dangerous to stopped by a cop. If you ran you might have got shot. There were fleeing-felon laws, but you did not face being killed for sass or non co-operation, bruised maybe, but not slaughtered. Even the bad boys didn’t really see the cops as the “enemy.” They were a representative of “society” or “the system” but they were not personally the enemy.

Murder maybe,,,, terrorism...ah nope. We disagree. The act was intended to induce terror in the victim.
To that degree, I submit it was, by definition, an act of terror.
Though I will agree that perhaps it doesn't fit the more classic definition of inducing terror in a population.

What an ignorant post - as are many on this thread.
It was a couple of cops with ‘control issues’, an all to psychological deficiency with today’s police. Just when did their training transition from ‘to serve and protect’ to ‘you better do exactly as I say to the letter’?
Cops have almost 99% discretion on how they handle their encounters. Why not just tell the man their going to write him a ticket and be done with it?

So, basically.....just ignore what the police ask you to do, right? Good luck with that. Post #10 says it all.

AGREED! It needs to be done through civil discourse and within the envelope of the law (as opposed to under color of authoritah).

Yes I have, he was alive, they decked, choked and cuffed him, then he was dead. The video does not exonerate the cops, it condemns them.
The police killed a man simply because they could, and you are defending them. There is a steady stream of these stories.

Did I SAY the cops weren’t to blame? A steady stream of stories so they’re ALL the same, hmm? Had he listened to the commands of the police, he’d have been cuffed and it could all have be sorted out. That’s a fact.

because it’s too much work to arrest real criminals while it’s easy to arrest the minor ones

So Ray Kelly knew it all along that this could happen because of his previous actions but kept him on the streets anyways.
How do you justify keeping him ?

I imagine its fairly difficult to fire a NYC police officer...its a union gig, sprinkled with rampant nepotism.

You’d have to ask the Boss but Jim is one and I believe John who has to drive 2 hours to work on the servers and repair FR’s programming when there’s a crash that slimes it. Or like several months back when FR ran out of memory. Ya gotta ask Jim. LOL
