A formerly homeless student who wrote a letter to President Obama to share his story and get some advice is selling a handwritten response to pay off his tuition.
Jesse Grainger wrote, As a child I had big dreams of going to college and doing great things . . . I came from a small town where most people were poor, especially my mother and me. My mom adopted me when I was one day old. She raised me to believe that education was the most important thing that I could ever get. My adopted mom died when I was 13.

What’s toilet paper cost?
Jesse should have turned around and hocked that letter the minute he got it. It’s value has almost certainly been dropping steadily ever since he got it, and that decline has steepened in the last 6-10 months. By now, he’ll be lucky if someone gives him $20 for it.
By the way, what’s the going price on those Obama inaugural collector plates now? $1? $2?
To answer my own question, looks like the going price for an Obama collector plate is $4.99. There are a bunch of the plates, plus other “Obama” memorabilia on ebay, all with zero bids.
And I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if that kid’s letter wasn’t even written by Obama, or even by a human being.
He will owe income tax on it.
Was it signed in red crayon??
I am surprised he received a reply, as there is no proof that the _resident ever attended school.
Never did see a “cap and gown” picture.
Wonder if he ever thought of a job??
Probably not. I'm pretty sure King Barry used up his red crayon drawing red lines in the sand.
Never met anyone dumb enough to buy any inaugural plates. I guess this is another Franklin Mint scam. I am lying I have seen them at yard sales.
Personally I would be afraid to open an envelope he licked or handle anything he has touched. Got to be a truck load of evil or disease attached to it.
Good one.
Good thing it wasn’t in an email or it would already be gone.....
At a buck.97 that will cover the worth of most college classes these days.
