A British embassy convoy in Tripoli came under fire on Sunday in an attempted carjacking but no-one was hurt, a spokesman for London's mission in Libya said.
"Early this morning a British embassy convoy was subject to an attempted carjacking. Shots were fired at our vehicles but they managed to drive on and leave the area," spokesman Bob Phillipson said.
"All embassy personnel are safe and accounted for and there were no injuries," he said.

Not much is new. The airport referenced here was once this country's largest Air Base, Wheelus. I was stationed there from July, 1956 until February, 1958. It was fairly peaceful in those days, except for when it was not. Prior to Qaddafi's overthrow of King Idris(Who was on the Throne during the period I was there). A few years after I left there, Qaddafi overthrew King Idris and kicked the US out of the country. I guess we got even with him, but in the process, created an even worse mess.
