Another factor empowering the left is that the culture war is pretty much overand the left won. Since Richard Nixons presidency, Republicans have used social issues to divide the Democratic Party and marginalize them from the rest of the country. But today, many of the issues that once drove deep divisions within the Democratic Party, from gay marriage to immigration reform, are now utterly mainstream, and progressives see an opportunity to deploy them against Republicans. The countrys increasingly diverse population and the millennial generations coming of age will make the progressive shift on cultural issues even more pronounced in the future.

They write as if this is a good thing. However, even the leftist Politico admits that this cultural change has not translated into a desire for more government. So, one could just as easily say the US has become more libertarian, not progressive. I equate progressive with expanding and intrusive government.
Ping!
......Or so they claim!
So called millenials are said to be so liberal on social issues such as homosexual marriage. Yet they are struggling in the Obama economy. Those experiences may lead them to become more conservative on economic issues.
There’s the old joke that liberal young people become more conservative, when they start working, and see how much of their paychecks go to pay taxes.
the left took over the rat party because the pu$$y GOPe allowed them and never fought the dirty fight, as the left wing does...
When is the ‘How the left took over the Republicans,’ article going to be written?
Uh. The left has always been democrat. Their heroes have always been Marxists. Wilson really got the ball rolling.
To be historically accurate, the leftist party was the Republican party from its founding until the election of Harding in 1920. The Democratic party went over to the left when it nominated William Jennings Bryan in 1896, then became hard core leftist with the election of Woodrow Wilson. The Democratic party went over to the dark side because “personal liberty”, state’s rights, and free trade weren’t winning elections for them anymore. The age of mass media had arrived and the electorate was growing selfish and stupid.
A supremely arrogant and ultimately wrong analysis.
The culture "war" is never over. Never. Not until the Creator decides to finish His work.
I recall history in a way many on the left (or right) do not. I am not alone, of course.
Man is NOT the end of all things. He does not decide what is "to be".
The Third Reich was supposed to last 1000 years. How'd that turn out?
Nebuchadnezzar thought he was going to reign supreme forever.....oops.
Greece and Rome were mighty civilizations that became decadent and fell.
Jesus spoke of a man who built his house upon the sand. The rains descended, the floods came, and beat upon that house. And the house fell--and great was the fall of it.
Genesis 19 tells the story of a society much like ours today....Or what ours is becoming.
The "left" did not win and WILL NOT win the war. Building on sand is a profoundly LOSING strategy.
By the way, I am not certain that America is on her last legs. The temptation is great to believe such a thing, I admit.
I do believe it is possible, also, that God is testing His people to give them the opportunity to shine in a world turning increasingly dark so that the darkness may be overcome.
Regardless of the Creator’s purpose, our work is to do His will.
After the next Rino is allowed to become president. ‘Allowed’ being the operative word. The billionaires and corporations that run America will make that choice, just as they did with this de facto amnesty going on now. Soros is not the only true puppetmaster out there. In my opinion, most puppetmasters who control America today are not American, or downplay any appearance of alligience.
Yes.
The GOP was conceived as a left wing party. Reagan and his followers tried to convert the party but failed.
OK.. but How did the left take over the Republican Party?...
We don’t need a third party we need a SECOND PARTY..
