Lindsey Graham: Leading, But Exceedingly Vulnerable

LIBERAL INCUMBENT’S APPROVAL RATING IDENTICAL TO BARACK OBAMA’S SUPPORT

Two-term “Republican” incumbent Lindsey Graham enjoys a big lead over three rivals in the race for the U.S. Senate in South Carolina – but the liberal Washington insider is “underwater” among voters in the Palmetto State, and likely to see significant erosion in his support as his opposition exploits his many vulnerabilities.

According to a new poll released by The (Charleston, S.C.) Post and Courier and a trio of South Carolina television stations, only thirty-nine percent of likely voters approve of Graham’s performance in office – compared to 44 percent who disapprove. Those are terrible numbers for any politician – but they’re downright abysmal considering Graham just spent $5 million on a barrage of positive media during his virtually uncontested campaign for the GOP nomination.

Graham won that race with 56 percent of the vote, but turnout was abysmal – and none of Graham’s opponents were able to raise enough money to drive a narrative against him.

Democrats were quick to note Graham’s vulnerability.

“Graham’s 39 percent approval is the same in South Carolina as President Obama’s according to the poll,” said Lachlan McIntosh, a Democratic operative who is advising the campaign of S.C. Sen. Brad Hutto (D-Orangeburg). “A key thing to remember is that Barack Obama got about 45 percent of the vote in South Carolina twice. If Hutto only matches that, he can win according this poll.”

Hutto entered the U.S. Senate race when former statewide official Thomas Ravenel – star of the reality TV show Southern Charm – started making noise about jumping into the race.

Ravenel is currently polling at ten percent – but the Lowcountry businessman has yet to start spending money on the race.

Seeing Linda go would be even more satisfying than seeing Cantor go.

“Seeing Linda go would be even more satisfying than seeing Cantor go.”

I agree. For all of Cantor’s flaws, he was significantly better than Graham.

I was terribly disapoointed back on Primary Night when I saw Graham winning by the margin he did. His defeat, at least to me, would have been more signficant than Cantor’s.

“Didn’t Goober already win the Primary?”

Yup, but now he has to beat a democrat, a libertarian and an outspoken independent.

Why vote for the DemoRat when Goober is one as well (especially by night). Goober is McLame’s pet but having that despicable, old cretin Harry scReid back as Sen majority leader would be beyond putrid.

Who was the last outspoken independent in DC? Maybe Joe Lieberman? And for all his PR camera time he maybe threw us conservatives a bone or two on certain votes in the senate.
Most of the time he sided with the rotgut ‘Rats. No let’s not trust Rats or Indies who talk conservative pre-election and then turn to leftists when in DC. If we can’t primary out the RINO’s like Goober what’s left other than scorched earth actions like voting for DemoRats.

Who really cares if republicans win. Our nation is being invaded and they are totally MIA. Haven't seen any of the leadership get up and oppose this migrant tsunami.

Haven't seen that orange bastard Boehner in months.

At least one of these, Thad, Lindsead, or whoever, needs a “conservative “I” to run and screw the establishment.
After its all over, the conservatives need to get in the establishments faces and tell them that this is going to happen to every GD one of them.

So you're saying that it's better to elect a Democrat who is going to vote with Democrats 100% of the time than an Independent who might vote with Democrats some of the time??????

I can't imagine that you're really for conservatives because the stronger message is clearly to elect the Independent. That tells both parties how screwed they are. A Democrat vote of any kind only strengthens their stranglehold on America.

You ought to know frustration by actually living here, and screaming at the the SC GOP to stop it!

The history of the SC GOP is that there used to be moderate Democrats who ran the state, then all of the voters decided to go conservative. The moderate Dems then just changed over to keep in office. We have a LOT of Dems here pretending to be RINOs. And the SC GOP simply does not care about its own Republcan voters, or what they think or want. Trey Gowdy, the current darling, is flirting all the time with amnesty. But you'd have to be a conservative in SC to actually know about it. We had hopes that he'd take on Graham, but I think he was threatened or paid off.

If ever there was a state ready for a third party, it's SC. We'd have the disaffected Republican conservatives...

If I believed that Ravenel had either personal integrity or a serious ideological framework, I’d go all in for him against the execrable Graham. He’s got the name Ravenel and some unsteady libertarian underpinnings, and unfortunately, I cannot bring myself to vote for someone from the Marion Barry wing of the Republican Party.
