Ukraine is in a totally different situation to the USA. Were there an actual revolution here, the changes would be waaaay more drastic. In Ukraine, its largely business as usual. Petro Praschenko is likely going to be just the same corrupt-wise as his three predecessors.

For starters, who would oppose trying the democrat caucus for treason? Fair trials, but there is no way Harry Reid wouldn’t be convicted

The beautiful part of Ukraine is not necessarily its politicians (though Poroshenko is doing well), but it's people, who understand anti-communism and the Russian threat much better than the West does, and are growing stronger all the time.

I'll stand with any people willing to stand up to the commies, particularly the Russkies, or the Chicoms, or any shade inbetween.

Well, we in the US with some degree of luck and foresight, were formed as a Republic and not one of these strap-on and play, UN inspired European Democracy's.

Frankly, what would be likely to happen here, if it came to that, is that Congress and SCOTUS would be given a timeout until told to return. The Military would take the reigns of government until order was restored which I would imagine would be either real quickly, or not at all until everyone got tired of fighting. In any case the Constitution would be suspended and at some point after order is restored, a Convention would be held to reinstate it with whatever changes were necessary.

You or I may not see what happened in the Ukraine as a revolution, It's such a small country and government that it's difficult to say exactly what it is, but there is no doubt that the Russians clearly have objections to the Ukraine being a free capitalist enclave on their border. They object for numerous reasons, the deepest and most striking one being that a number of Russian leaders of past generations came from the Ukraine and it has a close history with it.

There is however a large vocal group of citizens who want the Ukraine to be free of Russian dominance, a reasonable desire. There are also a pretty much equal number of citizens who either don't mind, or desire a close relationship with Russia, usually because they are of Russian origin.

This has been going on for some time now. The country is too small to split up and now Putin has reclaimed a portion of it for reasons I do not believe are valid.

It now appears he is funding and assisting factions to take another piece of it, essentially isolating Kiev and after that the rest is quite predictable.

So.......

For the Ukraine to deal with this problem, they have to be allowed to deal with it and not treated like Czechoslovakia , Georgia, Poland, (the list is long) by Russian authoritarian rule that has only served to prolong these constant do-over coup's and civil wars.

The Russian appointment of a pro-Russian president on this and many other situations have certainly added fuel to the fire and not accomplished anything.

So one mistake, leads to another and another.

Over and over again we see this.

So we in the US do what we can to intervene to one degree or another. This does a number of things.

It keeps Russia honest and makes them work for their conquests if it does not fend them off for a while and it helps to keep them off balance. This off balance state seems to slow them down.

Since WWII we have been engaged in proxy skirmishes with the USSR and now Russia and there is a damn good reason for it. It is to prevent another catalyst for another world war over the same sort of expansionist, nationalist, authoritarian led country that always gets too big for it's borders and decides after a time that since nobody is standing in it's way, it can therefore take the rest of Europe, or whatever. In any case, I am sick of it!

Whether you like it or not, that is our role in the world (maybe the sole role) and if we someday are not there to stand in the breach, the authoritarian, nationalist led country will indeed expand beyond it's borders.

It's what happens when nobody can or will stand in it's way. It's why we are involved and apparently this seems to be way over some people's pay grade because they don't understand it or they don't agree with interventions because they don't understand the reasons why.
