ABU DHABI Qatar could face Gulf Cooperation Council sanctions amid its support of Hizbullah and the Muslim Brotherhood.
Officials and analysts said Qatar could be penalized by the GCC for Dohas support of groups deemed threats to the region.
The officials said the sanctions could include the closure of borders by Qatars neighbors.
Qatar could face sanctions imposed by the Gulf countries, including the closing of borders with Qatar, and air space to it if Doha doesnt stop supporting the Muslim Brotherhood, Abdul Khaleq Abdullah, a leading United Arab Emirates analyst, said.
On March 4, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the UAE withdrew their ambassadors from Qatar. In an unprecedented statement, the three GCC states said Doha, in violation of a regional security accord signed in November 2013, refused to end support of the Brotherhood and Hizbullah.

US blocked Qatari funds intended for Hamas employee

The United States has blocked the transfer of Qatari funds earmarked for the salaries of civil servants hired by Hamas in Gaza, The Times of Israel has learned.
A diplomatic source in the Gulf state, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that Qatar had transferred hundreds of millions of dollars to Arab Bank for the salaries of some 44,000 Hamas civil servants. Those civil servants employed by Hamas in Gaza since its takeover of the Strip in 2007 were rendered jobless by the unity agreement with Fatah last month.
But the money was never processed by Arab Bank and delivered to Hamas, the source told The Times of Israel, due to pressure from the Americans, who consider Hamas a terror organization.
This is strange, since funds from Qatar have never been blocked in the past, the source said, referring to the $400 million aid package pledged by Qatari ruler Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa during his visit to Gaza in October 2012.
Hamass deputy political bureau chief Moussa Abu Marzouk lambasted Arab Bank for neglecting to process the funds in comments posted on his Facebook page June 28.
Israel singles out Qatar as key Hamas terror sponsor

Gulf emirate is branded the villain behind Hamas belligerence, with PMs former security adviser saying it funds tunnel diggers and rocket launchers.
President Shimon Peres accused Qatar on Wednesday of becoming the worlds largest funder of terror due to its financial support for Hamas in Gaza.
Qatar does not have the right to send money for rockets and tunnels which are fired at innocent civilians, the outgoing statesman told UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in Jerusalem. Their funding of terror must stop. If they want to build then they should, but they must not be allowed to destroy.
Qatars recently attempted to transfer funds for the salaries of Hamas civil servants in Gaza, following the formation of a Palestinian unity government, but was blocked by the United States, which pressured the Arab Bank not to process them. But former national security adviser Maj. Gen. (res) Yaakov Amidror told The Times of Israel that the emirates funding for the organizations terror apparatus, including tunnel diggers and rocket launchers, has continued unabated.
What has happened on this subject in the four months since this article was published on March 10th?
Now I’m seeing why Obama chose Qatar to send the terrorist pricks..makes perfect sense now
Well, in the four months ... up to “now” — you’ve got the Muslim world split into two major blocks (against each other) — Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia on one side, against Turkey, Qatar and Hamas on the other side, with Iran in the shadows behind the Turkey/Qatar block.
Israel seems to be aligning itself to the Egypt/Jordan block, which is against Hamas. Also remember that Israel has working relations with Jordan and Egypt along with peace treaties with both of them!
Qatar, Saudi rulers meet in Jeddah for Gaza cease-fire talks
July 23, 2014, Wednesday/ 16:17:49/ AP / RIYADH
Today’s Zaman
For the first time since an unprecedented diplomatic rift among Gulf powerhouses, Qatar’s emir flew to Saudi Arabia late on Tuesday in a surprise visit and met with King Abdullah to discuss cease-fire efforts that have yet to bring an end to 15 days of war in the Gaza Strip.
A senior Saudi official told The Associated Press that Saudi Crown Prince Salman, and Deputy Crown Prince Muqrin also attended the meetings with Qatar’s Sheik Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani in the coastal city of Jeddah.
King Abdullah’s security adviser Prince Bandar bin Sultan and the king’s son who heads the National Guard, Prince Miteb, also sat in on the discussion, the official said. He spoke anonymously because of the sensitivity of the meeting.
The meeting brought together two influential Arab brokers backing different cease-fire initiatives. Saudi Arabia is supporting an Egyptian cease-fire initiative that Israel accepted but Hamas rejected. Qatar, on the other hand, is the main conduit of Hamas conditions for a cease-fire that include guarantees for the lifting of a seven-year blockade of Gaza, enforced by Israel and Egypt.
The talks in Jeddah come amid a flurry of diplomatic efforts that has intensified on the 15th day of the war. More than 650 Palestinians, many of them women and children, and 29 Israelis — 27 soldiers and two civilians — have been killed.
The visit to Saudi Arabia marks the first high-level contact between Qatar’s emir and Saudi King Abdullah since the kingdom, along with Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, withdrew their ambassadors in March to protest Doha’s support for the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood group in the region.
The Saudi official told AP that al-Thani went to Saudi Arabia just one day after Oman’s foreign minister visited him in Doha amid suggestions that some members in the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council were considering suspending Qatar’s membership.
Does Tuesday’s Saudi/Qatari meeting change these ‘blocks’, or does it merely reflect a widespread search for a ‘resolution’ to the Gaza fighting, and not much more
!
We have a Navy presence somewhere around there; is it Qatar or U.A.E.?
I don’t know ... it’s hard to tell from just one thing. It will become more clear in time.
I can be sure of one thing, if Qatar is with Iran, then Saudi Arabia is going to be against that.
And those Muslims will always smile and lie to each other around a table and slit each other’s throats in the dark!
This may not be exactly what you asked, but it is in Qatar ...

It’s a weird relationship. We protect Qatar’s sovereignty against Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Iran because we don’t want to see further consolidation among oil producing countries. But they stick it to us indirectly from under the defense umbrella we provide because it’s what Muhammad commanded - stomp the infidel every chance you get. Funny thing is - no other Muslim country sticks it to us like Qatar. Not even Iran.
Anyone know if we still have a senior military command center in Qatar?
As I recall, both Iraq Wars were directed from Qatar.
...sanctions amid its support of Hizbullah and the Muslim Brotherhood.Shiites and Sunni jihadists? Same funding source? Gosh, this is really surprising. /s
