Michele Bachmann Says She Might Seek Presidency in 2016
RCP ^ | 07/23/2014 | Scott Conroy

Though set to retire from the U.S. House after her term expires at the end of this year, Michele Bachmann may not be done with electoral politics.

The Minnesota congresswoman and 2012 Republican presidential candidate told RealClearPolitics on Tuesday that she is considering a second White House run.

Bachmann made the revelation during an interview, in which she was asked for her view on whether any Republican women might seek the Oval Office in 2016.

“The only thing that the media has speculated on is that it’s going to be various men that are running,” she replied. “They haven’t speculated, for instance, that I’m going to run. What if I decide to run? And there’s a chance I could run.”

Bachmann entered the last presidential race in June 2011 as a long-shot contender but was able to use her sway with elements of the Tea Party and an effective media campaign to rise temporarily toward the front of the Republican pack in a deeply fluid race.

The high point of her candidacy came in August 2011 when she won the Ames Straw Poll in Iowa.

But Bachmann’s campaign soon withered amid a string of gaffes and controversial claims, staff defections, and a rise in the fortunes of other candidates in the race.

She ended up finishing in sixth place in the Iowa caucuses less than five months after her Ames triumph, earning just 5 percent of the vote and dropping out the next day.

What we know about Michelle Bachmann and her leadership skills, is that everyone you named will roll over Bachmann so easily, that she will never become a serious candidate.

Bachmann doesn’t belong with the big boys and girls.

The level of vitriol and animosity on your part toward Bachmann makes you a bit suspect.

Maybe you are simply the classical “ mind-numbed robot “.

But it seems you have an agenda behind your attacks.

RE: What we know about Michelle Bachmann and her leadership skills, is that everyone you named will roll over Bachmann so easily, that she will never become a serious candidate.

Again, let me repeat my argument.... Bachmann will be rolled over because conservatives don’t have the WILL to choose someone like her over these supposedly big boys (Christie, Romney, Jeb <— RINO’s all ) and Rand Paul ( WEAK on immigration, like his father on foreign policy.

As I said, her problem is not that she has not been tried and found wanting. her problem is that she has not been tried at all.

And between her and Hillary or Elizabeth Warren? NO CONTEST.
I’d choose Bachmann in a hearbeat than those two other bozos.

LOL, no, being able to recognize the facts of the political career of Bachmann makes one astute and accurate, not “suspect”.

The robot would be the guy who glosses over what is in front of him and chooses to be mind-numbed.

You already had your presidential campaign, it isn’t theory, and she couldn’t even convert that into congressional power.

Do you think your girl can become governor?

She has been tried, and she failed, she was never a serious candidate.

Conservatives have plenty of will but that has little to do with Bachmann, you may remember how conservatives gave up on her when she stated attacking governor Palin, she also didn’t help herself with that Todd Akin debacle.

RE: She has been tried, and she failed, she was never a serious candidate.

DISAGREE. She has NOT BEEN TRIED AT ALL.

RE: Conservatives have plenty of will but that has little to do with Bachmann, you may remember how conservatives gave up on her when she stated attacking governor Palin, she also didn’t help herself with that Todd Akin debacle.

Palin had her gaffes too. And her giving up on the governorship before her term was up didn’t help her at all.

But that does not make Palin a non-serious candidate.

So, gaffes or not ( and people do have them ), I’d take Bachmann over the lot that we just mentioned BECAUSE of her principles. I am not looking at perfection, just somebody who will FIGHT for conservative principles and policies.

So, let me summarize, if Cruz or Palin were to run, I’d choose either of them over Bachmann. But if neither of them were to run and we had the list I mentioned vs. Bachmann, I’d choose Bachmann.

And I hope people like you won’t sit home IF she were the candidate because the alternative (e.g. Hillary or Warren ) will be a another debacle like what we have now.

TO be fair, whether someone likes Palin or not, the frivolous lawsuits that SHE HAD TO pay out her own pocket were too much for any governor. The Dems knew that.

Just like Murkowski knew that she could buy off the Indian tribes, even though she just missed Joe Miller the night he won the primary.

As for Bachman, or Palin, or H3llary...

It is ludicrous for an American president—if we have another—to be a female. Raise your hands if you think any Muslim country, N. Korea, or for that matter, the PRC, will deal with a female or a gay guy with any respect and seriousness. At all.

You over there at Politico and HuffPo: go home.

I didn’t mention any gaffes, I said that she hired Ed Rollins and started attacking Governor Palin.

Bachmann has been tried, and she failed, you can’t appoint her into power, she has to convince people that she belongs there.

Do you think she could ever be a Governor? Why doesn’t she run for it?

“Running” for president must be a big money maker why else do the same people, who must know they are never going to win, keep running?

Thanks for the continued personal attacks, it is a reminder of how Bachmann went after Palin.

One of the idiot things that killed respect for her among many conservatives.

RE: I didn’t mention any gaffes, I said that she hired Ed Rollins and started attacking Governor Palin.

And that disqualifies her for the Presidency? WHY?

RE: Bachmann has been tried, and she failed, you can’t appoint her into power, she has to convince people that she belongs there.

I never said we appoint her into power, I said let’s elect her IF her opponents are the Romney’s, Christie’s, Bush’s or Paul’s of the world.

RE: Do you think she could ever be a Governor?

Why not? I think she’d be better than say, Jesse Ventura.

RE: Why doesn’t she run for it?

I can’t answer that question. But if she runs for governor, yes, I’d support that. But if she runs for President and the alternative are the RINO’s, I’d take her (even with her warts ).

Well good luck with wasting your time on people who aren’t leadership material, who couldn’t even make her mark in the congress, and pretending that they are viable presidential candidates.

What’s wrong with Bachman compared to the rest?

She's fine on the issues, but she gaffed herself out of the 2012 nomination. The fact that she couldn't get her gaffes under control says little for her ability to run the country.

Too bad, because early on she was by far my first choice among those running.

RE: Well good luck with wasting your time on people who aren’t leadership material,

Why should it be a waste of time? I already set up the CONDITIONS by which we should vote in the primaries ( see above ).

You would rather have the RINO’s as candidates again? Sorry, not for me. I have enough of them.

If we keep focusing on the gaffes and ignore her strengths and solid principles under pressure, we’d never get a good conservative as a candidate.

Who hasn’t had gaffes?

Sarah Palin had them. Obama? HAH, I can count them by the fistful ( let’s start with the 57 states of America ).

Those gaffes are SECONDARY in my view.

Heck, if it boiled down to Rick Perry vs. Hillary, I’d take Perry even if can’t remember the government departments he’d like to close down.

It is a waste of time, like this thread, Bachmann is not, never was, and never will be a serious candidate for president of the United States.

You don’t need to post something that you know is a lie, “”You would rather have the RINO’s as candidates again?””, and you don’t need to confuse agreeing with a small time politician’s politics, with that meaning they are also presidential material and can win a national election.
