US: No Link to Russian Gov't in Plane Downing

Senior U.S. intelligence officials said Tuesday that Russia was responsible for "creating the conditions" that led to the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, but they offered no evidence of direct Russian government involvement.

The intelligence officials were cautious in their assessment, noting that while the Russians have been arming separatists in eastern Ukraine, the U.S. had no direct evidence that the missile used to shoot down the passenger jet came from Russia.

The officials briefed reporters Tuesday under ground rules that their names not be used in discussing intelligence related to last week's air disaster, which killed 298 people.

I bet some of them were in the Russian military before the coup

that is absolute nonsense...none of the rebels were trained to fire that sophisticated piece of military equipment. A russian military person fired it ....period. Russia is 100% liable for this disaster and we should NEVER let them off...

Some of the rebels might have been in the old Ukranian military before the split between east and west. So they could have gotten formal training from Ukraine.

I did some research on their relationship..and it was that...but how they were so “comfortable” with one another I could never quite figure out. I know they orchestrated many deals....(Putin smiled all the way to the bank on those...but they were good for us as well.)...and though had their tense moments and heavy disagreements they knew how to even fight well among themselves and unafraid to get angry without taking it personally......and then come to some concession for the effort.

With Obama all he can do is Chicago thuggery which is why Putin can find Obama so humorous....Putin’s miles ahead on those plays and Obama is less than an amateur by comparison....as another poster quoted someone...”Like a pigeon on a chessboard”. (Though he really never said that)

I read Turkey's leader won't take Obama’s calls also....I'm thinking the world leaders are simply fed up with his thuggery and inability to perform his duty as a world leader. They see Americans are fed up as well....unfortunately leaving us very vulnerable while the West moves forward and Obama goes on yet another vacation to recover from doing absolutely nothing.

Heck, they were all Russians. Their tactics are similar. None of them are sweethearts.

Be fair, he is out in Hollywood at three whole days of fundraising and hob nobbing with the rich and famous. That is hard work in Obamaland. Probably will force himself into a game or two of golf.

Evidence??? Evidence???? We don’t need no stinking evidence!!!

Before the Dutch et al get all their bodies back from the thugs of Donetsk, the Russians are going to compel our government to say that it was a fuel tank explosion.

Bush also had Condi Rice at his side. Rice is / was fallible for sure, but if I was the one tasked to deal with Russia, I’d be listening to Condi’s take.

I liked Condi and no doubt she was good for Bush and this country. She is one smart woman!..and he depended on her quite a bit. I doubt much was that didn’t pass by her.

.........the last thing this cabal of Marxists/Socialist/Communist/Alinsky cowards consisting of Jarrett, Obama, Biden, Hagel, Kerry, Rice and I’m sure others at the very top is to have hard evidence that Putin did it. Indeed, if they had a video of Putin pushing the Buk button they would altar the video and make up a Benghazi type lie.

Why? Because none of them have the intellect or the spine to confront the man! They are an embarrassment to this country!

Obama doesn’t listen to any advisers on Russia...that’s pretty obvious...or else his advisers haven’t a clue what they’re doing....likely both. No doubt he’d ignore Condi as much. BEsides he’s run away agin for vacation or something of that nature.

Here, I agree with you: Likely both!

As a friend put it after Obama’s 1st election: “Oh, God, these people couldn’t run a lemonade stand...”

I don’t remember seeing American retired CIA colonels, tanks or Patriot missiles on the side of Ukraine. Some ready-to-eat meals, some body armour, but that’s about it for the visible contribution. We can only speculate on behind the scenes efforts (if any), but I suspect additional financial help, maybe satellite imagery for intelligence. Ukrainians are saying, if there was a Republican in office, they would’ve had military aid by now.

Nobody is actually calling for American troops, this is Ukrainian fight against the Russians. Although, there are calls for more body armour and night vision goggles
