GLAAD’s has released its second annual Studio Responsibility Index that maps the quantity, quality and diversity of images of LGBT people in films released by the seven largest motion picture studios during the 2013 calendar year: 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate, Paramount Pictures, Sony Columbia, Universal Pictures, The Walt Disney Studios and Warner Brothers. GLAAD found that of the 102 releases from the major studios in 2013, 17 of them included characters identified as lesbian, gay, or bisexual. It found that the majority of these characters were minor roles or cameos, and that many of these were outright defamatory representations in films such as Pain & Gain and Riddick.

Later on, Dahl is disparagingly called a “lesbo” by the same man. Unfortunately, what could have been one of the better LGBT characters in a Hollywood action film recently is subverted by the film and protagonist’s treatment of her. . . . But the film also implies that Dahl becomes attracted to Riddick, who at one point promises that he’s going to “go balls deep into” her “but only after you ask me to, sweet-like.” Sure enough, when she returns to rescue him at the film’s climax, she coos “Lemme ask ya something. Sweet-like,” and when finally leaving, Riddick says “Tell Dahl to keep it warm for me.” The implication is quite clear that the hyper-masculine Riddick was too much for even a professed lesbian to resist, thereby validating one of the most egregious and stereotypical “straight-guy” fantasies, and treating her character with profound misogyny in the process.
Sure. The media loves perversion, immorality, gossip, hatefulness, violence, death and destruction.
I’ve had “gays” say the TV industry today, for “gays”, is like the Amos and Andy period must have been for blacks - over represented in stereotypes.
2.3% identify themselves as gay, transgendered or bisexual, not 3.2%. 1.7 percent identify themselves as gay.

I believe the CDC report says there are 700K trannies. So around 0.23% or so.

They should make movies with gays as the bad guys and see what happens.
I’ve heard it on some stations with “faggot” semi-cut out.
At the same time they are beginning to tell kids they should try it before deciding they are straight or not.

No arguing with the Diceman, but I’ll betcha that the majority of those who responded bisexual are women.

Not 17 out of 102 characters.
On the other hand, I wonder if there were 17 out of 102 movies that portrayed a Christian character at all, and how many were in a good light — given that Christians still make up a majority of the country, you’d expect that every movie with more than a half-dozen characters would have a least one church-goer.
I just watched Riddick this past week (a pretty pitiful movie in fact, a retread of the prior movie, with the same plot and conclusion pretty much).
And I will agree with them — given that her character was a pronounced lesbian, the idea that Riddick would somehow be such a man to interest her seems ridiculous.
A person who hates men is hardly going to like one that is extremely masculine. Of course, it is just a movie, and it is hilarious watching people get worked up over a movie.
But what is truly funny is how much the GLBT crowd loved Glee, while all I saw was gay people beating up other gay people, and other very unflattering portrayals of gay people as being abnormal, overly obsessed, and having quite some difficulty coping with the real world.
Most channels don’t play that verse any more. The Canadian govt banned it, and a station played it uncut to protest. Sirius XM plays the song without the verse.
As a joke, Weird Al ought to cut the “little Clampett” verse out of his parody.
What is actually interesting on it is that there is a medical condition where a chemical imbalance in the body actually can cause the gender confusion. However it is far, far less common than the incidence of trannies. So by a rough calculation, 99.5% of all trannies are simply loons or attention seekers (which considering their method of choice- loons). Yet even though it is clear that we’re dealing with a serious mental health issue, somehow the response is to let them be insane and celebrate the insanity.
The inmates are truly running the asylum now.
