Amid allegations that Russian-backed separatists are actively impeding the investigation into Thursday's downing of a Malaysia Airlines plane over Ukraine territory, the international community is expressing its anger.
Canada's Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird, said that he wants justice and that justice needs to start with a "credible unimpeded independent investigation" of what happened.
"I'm very very disturbed by reports of the careless, even callous way in which the crash site has been treated," Baird said via a teleconference in the U.K., with reports suggesting that Russian rebels were removing bodies and evidence from the crash site and threatening international investigators.
"Let me spell out the obvious...this tragedy is a direct product of Russian military aggression and illegal occupation of Ukraine. President Putin's continued support for armed groups in Eastern Ukraine constitutes a threat to international peace and security.
"To borrow a phrase from the famous English writer, he has 'let slip the dogs of war.' And now he has to face up to the consequences."
Thursday's plane crash — which the United States alleges was caused by a surface-to-air missile fired by Russian-backed separatists — is just the latest vexation by Russia in Ukraine.
Throughout the ongoing conflict, Canada has been one of Russia's most vocal critics, of their annexation of Crimea and their provocations in Eastern Ukraine. The prime minister was quick to impose sanctions and travel bans against Russian officials and has consistently chided Putin's inaction towards peace in the region.
Baird says that the Canadian government will soon announce new sanctions "against a broad range of Russian people and entities."
Those sanctions will likely be in-line with the United States and the European Union.

The west ain’t prepared for escalation and Putin knows this. This is old school “Realpolitik” Russia is playing and unfortunately in the western world in 2014, we don’t have the leadership anymore to go toe to toe with the Bear.

What do these people want? WW III? No one wants to attack Russia? What are we to do? Shoot down some Russian Jets? maybe sink a few Russian Ships? Burn some buildings full of Russians? All of this is propaganda—a Lusitania Moment! No to War—close the borders! Russia can do so much harm to us—like close the air traffic to Kabul leaving our men stranded. How about keeping our guys off the Space Station? China could call in our notes on the debt we owe? How about demand their gold out of Fort Knots (the gold we already spent)-— No—we too our vunerable as well. Russia could hurt us in many ways.
I think the Dutch are rightfully about to do something economic to Putin.
Holland lost out to Russia for the 2018 World Cup, if they have any pull with FIFA, they could start threatening to take the WC from Russia.

He’s bolstering Ukraine because Putin has been messing with the Arctic Archipelago. Anything that draws Russian resources south is good for Canada.
My first guess would be Israel, with China and India strong possibilities.

It seems that either CSIS was not briefing Baird about the latest development, or he was too stupid to understand it.
Baird's statements are of the same mental magnitude as Mel Lastman's when he was the mayor of Toronto.
The only thing I could say in his defense is that he is speaking on behalf of Galicia Waffen SS descendants and not in the name of all Canadians.

If you are fond of comparisons, make sure you compare similar things. Austria was NEVER part of Germany, Crimea was always part of Russia. Better comparison is the sinking of Maine. "You furnish the pictures, I furnish the war". MSM is doing the same today as Hearst was doing back then.

Bairds response has nothing to do with American foreign policy, It is all about keeping the worlds airspace safe for everyone.
