New York City is the most unhappy city in America (Happiest States LA and MT)
Maket Watch ^ | July 18,2014 | – Steve Goldstein

In short, New Yorkers are unhappiest on an “adjusted” basis; but scoff at those adjustments as you like, they are still third-most-unhappy region (of the areas where there are at least 200 respondents) out of 177 metro areas on an unadjusted basis.

It’d be blithe to say those who work on Wall Street are scientifically miserable. But remember, money buys happiness. So, probably not.

The happiest five cities are all in Louisiana, with Lafayette taking the crown (Louisiana is also the happiest state). The unhappiest cities, after New York City, are St. Joseph, Mo,;.; South Bend, Ind.; Erie, Penn.; and the Evansville, Ind.-Henderson, Ky. area.

Spent the first thirty years of my life in the New York metropolitan area and can vouch for this.

If you look at it the map closely it really highlights places where LIBERALS live. I lived in Montana for four years and when I read the headline my first thought was that it's mostly true except around the college campuses where you'll run into whiny complaining liberals, and sure enough the two stains on the map of Montana are around Missoula and Bozeman where U of M and MSU are located (even at that, Bozeman is far from being a liberal town, but the campus faculty do "pollute" the natural Montana nature of the population.)

Let them leave you up in the air.
Let them brush your rock and roll hair.

Or is it that Louisiana shuts down abortion clinics?

Two nightmare scenarios for me:

One, that I wake up and realize I own an Apple Orchard. (OMG, the WORK!)

Two, that I wake up and realize I live smack-dab in the middle of New York City!

I lived in Boston from 1984 to 1987. I’ve never met more unhappy, arrogant, unfriendly people in my life. The friendliest town I ever lived in was Brunswick, GA.

I was born there, but fortunately the parents moved west in my infancy; the only time I’ve been back was to a convention in Manhattan and I truly hated it....the locals were sullen and nasty, and the area looked like a sh*thole - and this was right after Rudy’s Times Square “cleanup”.

VERY INTERESTING.

The areas that are happiest are the ones that are heavily black, if not majority black, and in the SOUTH, where racism was the worst.

Perhaps the blacks in the South could teach the white liberals in the Northeast a few things about life.

First they have Bloomberg as mayor then are downgraded even further to DeBlasio. How can those people be happy?

Those of us who work with blacks from the South realize one thing, VERY QUICKLY, and that is that they are NOT angry people. They are fun to be with, don’t get wound up on “racial issues” and pretty damn smart, too.

B-but NYC is the liberal idea of Utopia come to fruition! What could possibly go wrong? Full blown communism! A harcore commie Mayor! From each according to his ability, to each according to his need!

A friend of mine from England stopped off in New York before coming to visit me. He made a very interesting observation.

"With all of its infrastructure and its wealth, you would think that they would design their city for a better way to remove their trash."

Arizona is neither and we're delirious.

“...it’s dirty, it’s crowded, it’s polluted, it’s noisy, and there are people who would just as soon step on your face as look at you.”

Ray Spengler, and he said that back in 1984.
