Putin doesn't want the USSR back. He knows Communism doesn't work. Putin isn't a neo-Soviet. Putin is a neo-Tsarist

I'm not getting anything from this thread about Communism or a Russian return to it.

To make a point, Communism, or whatever is not what is important here. The US would be Communist if that is what it took for a politician to get elected. That is not the case in Russia any longer but what is the case is that the people desire a Authoritarian that makes them feel proud to be Russian.

It's that simple really.

Nothing new for Russia and it's along the same trajectory as the reemergence of the Third Reich. I don't see a lot of difference at all. I see that it's what he perceives as the desire of the people he leads.

Where it takes him and Russia from this point onward, is not a hazy forecast, it's obvious!

He wants and his people want the old Soviet Union footprint back in play, just like it was. But not Communist. The Ideology has shifted after the failures. They don't know exactly what they want, but they want Putin to lead it. The Ideology is only important if it becomes a desire of his people and right now it is not on the table. They are happy with Putin's Authoritarian Regime, and will be happy until they want something else.

In this way, what is happening in Russia is no different then what happened in Germany in the 30s..It's a nationalism based reformation with a expansionist agenda.

This time they have Oil and no Ideology garbage to get in their way. Putin does not need Communism to achieve public support. He has it without it.

Thank you..very good post... you’ve really made the right point regarding Putin and the majority of the Russian people.

Too many people fail to distinguish what’s apparent because they cannot let loose of the cold war mentality....even Putin knows he has to balance between the old Russia population and the new. And he intends to bring them all along with him. So far he’s accomplishing just that.

The Russian people want a leader they can be proud of...he’s given that to them and they are quite willing to overlook any flaws along the way as he’s clearly brought them out of the depths of despair they were in.

Thank you again for your post....it’s refreshing given too many here are carrying the Obama agenda regarding Russia...and in lockstep with the MSM he’s using to take Russia out of it’s relationship with the European community.
