Over the July 4 weekend, in Chicago alone, 16 people were shot to death and another 66 were wounded. At a press briefing on July 11, the White House weighed in, stating that Obama would "continue to make the case" that lawmakers should adopt new gun control laws. Two days later, on Sunday, Gov. Pat Quinn also called for more gun control, in particular a state ban on assault weapons, as the solution.
But Chicago's problems lie with the city’s politicians. Nationally, police solve almost two out of every three murders – 63 percent of them. That figure is much lower in Chicago. In 2010, right before Rahm Emanuel became mayor, the rate for Chicago was 39 percent. But by Emanuel’s second year in office, it had plunged to an official rate of 26 percent. (In reality it is even lower, because Chicago has tried to hide how bad things are by increasingly misclassifying murders as non-murders.)
After becoming mayor, Emanuel did three unfortunate things to the Chicago police force:
1) He closed down detective bureaus in Chicago's highest crime districts and moved them elsewhere, sometimes quite far away.
2) Instead of increasing the number of police officers by 1,000, as he had promised during his campaign, he actually cut the number of police.
3) He disbanded many gang task forces.
Not surprisingly, when you don’t catch criminals, the result is more crime.
Admittedly, like many other cities, Chicago faced budget problems in 2011. But Emanuel decided to cut the police budget to fund his pet projects, . . .

And pray tell, Gov Quinn, how many of those 16 dead people and 66 wounded people were hurt by dreaded assault weapons? I'll betcha none. These people are being hurt by handguns, not hunting guns.
Well, you can’t let a crisis go to waste if you haven’t created one ... he’ll start working on the crisis soon.
Despite having a phone and a pen, Obama has done absolutely nothing to bring the resources of the Federal government to curb the violence in Chicago. Over 1,200 people mostly minorities have been killed in Chicago since he took office. Now the black gang members are really upset with Obama. They know that the Hispanic gangs are being reinforced by the migrant “teenage children” being settled in Chicago. They are being outgunned.
Once Obama gets settled in a Secretary General of the United Nations in 2017 he can finally straighten out Chicago.
I say we send all the illegal immigrants up there since they thought Obama would be such a good idea.
They would probably want to return to their slums in Central America.
Gun FREE zone..... DUH.....

Rahm Emanuel traded Richie Daley’s corruption conviction for a mayorship and it’s not quite working out as planned.
You know if Chicago got rid of all those damn republicans , Rahman could really straighten out the city....
The problem is not Rham, it is the Dim party and the underpinning political philosophy of the Dims for generations.
The higher the murder rate the more the Rats can demand more gun control. The lefties purposefully worsen the situation for political gain. It’s no more complicated than that.
They would kill more if they wouldn't hold the gun sideways.
