See, this is why I support tasers.
Every time the cops try and control and contain a kid/invalid/elderly person whatever....
That person gets hurt.
I’m betting that if the cops had just tazed the girl with the misspelled name; she would have fared much better.

To “Serve And Protect” ... themselves. Like they couldn’t talk to her? They had to beat up a 17yo???

IMO youth curfews should be imposed by parents, not the government.

How were they going to talk to her?
She admitted she ran. Kinda hard to talk to someone as they’re running away, right?

When I was a kid I learned that it is impossible for cops to catch a kid on a bicycle.

Another one of those stories we could argue all day. Without video or being there we just don’t know.
Since my daughter was/is 100% trustworthy, were it she I would be hunting down the cops off duty with a baseball bat.
Mine knew that if she was not at fault and told us the truth, she got 100% backing from us every time. Because of that she was willing to own up if she wasn’t completely innocent. Which was pretty rare.

When they stopped her. Was there a crime reported? There was no need for all that rough stuff - curfew for heavens sake ....

When I grew up teenagers ran from police all the time. Sometimes they were caught but they were never beaten up. It's all about attitude. The person being chased and the person doing the chasing.
Two positives= no problem
One positive & one negative= no problem.
Two negatives= problem.

Wow,that’s quite a claim. I’m not saying it isn’t true but it’s one of those things that I would never say.

Would your daughter have run from the police after being told to stop?
If no, then why are you grabbing for the baseball bat?

They stopped her after she was caught and after she stopped resisting. Too bad she got hurt while committing a crime. And by crime I don’t mean breaking curfew,
Life handed her a lesson that night. I hope she learned from it.

Curfew laws are ridiculous.
It's the Government telling its citizens they must be indoors by a certain time or face arrest. That's the job of parents, not cops with nothing better to do.
In addition, most juvenile crime happens in the hours immediately after school is out.
If they can force kids indoors, they can force you.
