I did find it telling that you managed to find a tweet from a Spanish account who claims to be a ATC in Kiev alleging that Kiev shot the plane down, but not any from the Russian separatists claiming responsibility.

Putin's smarter than trying to confront the Chicoms. That's why the events like the pipeline treaty have been taking place. In a 100 years will this be viewed as appeasement?, I have no idea.
You also missed the point. Putin has no PR to gain by poking a stick at the Chinese. I think his strategy is a slow growth of possessions, at little risk. This will be finally tempered when the west finally confronts the moves, or at the point to triggering an expansive war.

Still, I think we should use Occam’s Razor first, unless, after a proper amount of time to get the FACTS, other FACTS come out.
Occam’s Razor, however, would dictate some hot heads in a war, after just shooting down a Ukrainian Air Force cargo plane with a SAM a couple of days ago, did this too. Kind of a hero to zero moment once they realize what they just did.
In any case, the fact that it is a Malaysian Air jet means little just because of the earlier disappearance.
So I’m waiting for the facts.
This is a crisis... and we don’t waste crises around here.. and I don’t think Aviation is going to be OK with ‘Oopsieism’.

The facts should come out. We will just agree to disagree. MH 17 did check in with Ukrainian flight controllers when it entered their airspace.
I understand. I despise Putin immensely, but will have to admit I admire his leadership a hell of a lot more than the stupid punk in the WH right now.

Whatever the story that comes out...the deaths of so many is a loss for many families....and I suspect from various countries. This in itself will demand a complete investigation.

Body parts and wreckage spread over nine-mile area according to initial reports. Definitely broke up mid-air.
Poor souls. Rest in peace.
Interesting as information continues to come out......those in the know will piece these and all evidence to get the story eventually.
Still...so many families will be soon in grief and affected by this. Very sad day for many.
