Militarize Our Border? O'Reilly, Here's Your Plan
americanthinker.com ^ | 7/13/2014 | Russ Vaughn

Posted on 07/13/2014 6:32:50 AM PDT by rktman

Bill O’Reilly almost nightly calls for the militarization of our southern border, but he never has any guests to explain how this could be done. So, Bill, since I agree with you, here is a rudimentary plan worked out by someone with a working knowledge of both our military capabilities and the geographical area in question. Mind you, I have no information regarding military training budgets, but as we withdraw from large-scale overseas operations, our leadership should consider applying funds no longer needed for those to the mission of defending our currently defenseless southern border.

Hmmm. Don't know if oreally calls for this almost nightly or not. I gave up on billy boy a long time ago. But, in any case, Mr. Vaughn has some valid points and ideas. So, have at it folks.

Turned the border region into a military exercise training area.

You can count on BOR to make an abrupt about face right about the time something is going to get done.

Hmm. I think Jewbacca has been doing some training along the border. Just not what needs to be effective though. ;>}

Perry the weakest candidate in 2012 now says “Mr Pres call out the guard!!” the guard is controlled by the governor doesn’t anyone remember the botched response to Katrina by their gov? Bush had to wait on her, so what is Perry waiting for? He can have guard exercises or guard emergency actions. Lets see if he still all hat and no cattle.

Any number of viable solutions exist. The simple fact is the the President and his party WANT this to go on as they see this as long term benefit to themselves as do a lot of so-called Republicans.

As quickly as their bussing them away, once someone(?) gets there to put a stop to it, there’ll be nobody there.

The problem with calling out the guard or any other government entity is that the illegals are running into their arms now. They know that once they’re on American soil, they go into the system and are here for years at the very least.

We need to stop them before they cross the border and turn them back.

To be honest I have never heard O’Reilly calling for us to militarize the borders and I’m pretty sure he is against it as I remember him saying he wants more of a presence there but not to attack illegals but just report it to current border patrol which to me is laughable.

If Perry is too dumb to know the law of his own state what makes you think there is hope if he is waiting for Obama to do something, when he has the power and authority to act but won’t. Even still, initially I was hopeful when I heard Perry talking tough about sending in the National Guard, but again that means they are unarmed and not able to really do anytrhing but watch and report to Fed officials. Too me that is like sending in troops to battle with both arms tied behind their back and taking away their guns.

Won't happen.

soetoro is an enemy islamist who instigated this, and views the resulting chaos as a positive for his, and islamism's benefit, to the ultimate detriment of America.

Place a string of Brigade size military bases along the length of the border. Erect high observation towers with the latest personnel detection devices. Use motorized hunter patrols to sweep the area at unscheduled times. Designate an area as a detention compound and place all detainees in confinement NLT one week for processing, and return them to their countries of origin with a bill for expenses. OMG!! That’s really cruel and racist of me isn’t it? I haven’t come up with an idea for the 3K+ miles of the Canadian border or the coastal ones yet, but I’m sure you will.

I still think towers every few miles would be very effective. Add to that a squadron of drones with 30 mm M230E1 Chain Guns as used on the Apache as a deterrent and an enforcer to keep those cockroaches out of out country.

well a nice camp like sheriff Joe has, but run by the guard might make a few people think staying has little future.

Or you could use the tactic the Turks used in during the Korean war to keep thieves off their base: erect a fence consisting of a single strand of barbed wire 6” high.

US forces used layers of barbed wire, guard dogs, machine gun posts, mines etc, things still disappeared on post.

When something went missing, Turks marched into the nearest town, found the oldest woman, tied her to a post, called out the entire village to watch, then skinned her alive. Done once, no thievery.

Or you could carpet bomb a one mile strip along the entire US-Mex border on the Mex side with cluster bombs.

Point is that nothing really works until one proves he means business by making an example.
