An IRS employee was suspended for 100 days for using his job at the agencys help line to try to convince callers to vote for President Obama, a government watchdog agency announced Thursday.
The employee, whose name wasnt mentioned in the announcement from the Office of Special Counsel, admitted to using his job for political purposes and agreed to the settlement that involved a 100-day suspension.
OSCs complaint alleged that, when fielding taxpayers questions on an IRS customer service help line, the employee repeatedly urged taxpayers to re-elect President Obama in 2012 by delivering a chant based on the spelling of the employees last name, the investigative office said.
The OSC also announced a U.S. Postal Service employee was fired after he ran for seats in Congress and solicited donations to his campaign, violating the Hatch Act that limits government employees ability to get involved in politics.

I thought the only way you could get suspended at the IRS is if your were NOT engaging in pro-Obama activities....
Further proof that it’s impossible to fire a US bureaucrat.
And of course anyone in the real world would have been fired.
I work for a federal contractor. Go to any government agency office building and you will literally see shrines to Obama in cubicles.
Obama basically has an army of loyalists working in government agencies. That’s why I believe that no one had to convince Lois Lerner to do what she did. She willingly worked in concert with higher ups to target Tea Party groups.
Probably a paid suspension though. Sorta like a vacation.
How about fired and jailed!!!!!
Knowing this admin it will be 100 paid days...and 3 month plus vacation reward for a job well done...just couched as a “suspension”
He’ll also collect overtime, retroactively.
Suspended of 100 days...with pay?
Oh, well. I guess that takes the repukes out of the fire for seeing to it that the Obemba administration was guilty in the IRS affair, huh? /s
Unfortunately for this person, he/she don’t have the “my hard drive crashed” excuse like Lerner.
not a smidgen of corruption.
If he was a military officer he would have been forced to resign.
More like a few metric tons of corruption, but yeah, not a smidgen.
I’m guessing this employee was thrown under the bus.
Somebody - out of hundreds or thousands who made pro-Obama calls - had to be the scape goat. And this guy was not well liked anyway, sooooo.....
One of many.
It was the same way when Bill Clinton was president but probably not quite as bad because of the race issue with Obama.
One of the biggest mistakes George Bush made when he took office was to not immediately clean out the Clinton lovers from the federal bureaucracies as much as possible.
That is what the Clintons did when they moved in after H.W. Bush.
Leaving loyalists from the opposition party in place means that a president will have a big part of his administration actively working against him and undermining his policies.
And that is exactly what happened to Bush 43.
Whichever republican takes over as president from Obama will find himself trying to run the country with a staff of enemy agents who hate his guts and will do everything they can to make him fail.
I guess this was just one of those two rascally rogue Cincinnati IRS employees.
