Report: Perry and Obama to Meet in Texas to Discuss Border Crisis

The president will travel to Texas tomorrow to fundraise for Democrats. But, because of the humanitarian crisis and rising health care concerns, the timing of his trip is far from impeccable. For his part, Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) has sent numerous entreaties to the president in recent weeks urging him to see for himself the perilous situation on the border. He won’t. He did, however, invite Perry to greet him at the airport upon his arrival, an invitation the governor promptly rejected (via the WSJ):

“I appreciate the offer to greet you at Austin-Bergstrom Airport, but a quick handshake on the tarmac will not allow for a thoughtful discussion regarding the humanitarian and national security crises enveloping the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas,” Mr. Perry wrote in a letter to the president Monday. “I would instead offer to meet with you at any time during your visit to Texas for a substantive meeting to discuss this critical issue.”

Let's get one thing straight. This president is not going to spend a nano-moment of his time checking out the crisis at the border. He's arrival in Texas means nothing to do regarding the crisis at the border for the nation's problem of overwhelming illegal immigration merely for fund-raising purposes for fellow Democrats. While he seems open to talk about the crisis with the governor, he's refused any meeting at the border to dicuss the matter.

Again, while Perry has been pushing for a meeting at the border, to see the crisis first hand, 'Obombo' refuses any such thing.

I have to say at this point, however, that the Gov. is winning this PR contest.

Obama ‘would welcome’ visit with Perry to talk about the border

snip
Late Monday, Valerie Jarrett, senior advisor to President Obama, replied to Perry affirmatively,
saying, “The president would welcome a meeting with you while he is in Texas.”

In the two-page letter obtained first by the American-Statesman, Jarrett also invited Perry
to join faith leaders and local elected officials for a round table discussion on the border
that has been added to the president’s schedule while he is in Dallas on Wednesday. It wasn’t
immediately clear how Perry would respond.

They shouldn’t meet in Austin. Perry should travel to the border and insist that Obama meet him there.

Obama will do everything to provoke Perry. It's Texas showdown time.

I hope Perry hands him a list of "things to do" and a bill for all that Texas has endured.

Obama goes to Texas for a fund raiser, but can’t come to deal with the border issue and the flagrant violations of federal law

He's going to meet with Perry, but now he's saying that they need to include a whole bunch of other people in the meeting.

Thus, Obama will not have to face Perry one on one and Perry will get no commitment from the Liar.

Must say or type first, I have no respect for obama and almost no respect for perry. I have a clue for perry though. If perry wants to be President of the United States he would have Texas Rangers meet obama, at the airport, and have Texas Rangers escort obama back onto Air Force One and informing obama that he would be arrested for violating a Governors order. perry would then called for border security along Texas by placing the Texas National Guard and enough Military to repel the invasion. He would become the most popular person in America if perry did this but perry is probably not smart enough to figure this out.

“In the two-page letter obtained first by the American-Statesman (LIBERAL RAG), Jarrett also invited Perry

This will be like one of the lefty talking head TV shows: six commies verses one conservative moderated by an other commie.
Perry does not have the mental fire power to hold his own in that type of environment. IF there are any video cuts of the meeting, guarantee he will look bad and he will hurt his own cause. The deck is stacked against him. If his maximum excellency opts to “moderate” the discussion, look for the IWON to brow beat any comment Perry makes into submission.
