I can’t top that. My uncle was late to that war, he was just a kid and the only action he saw was the Japanese surrender. Cool he was on an Iowa-class battleship though.

I think the lesson learned is....Dad never spoke of the HORROR of the war...but he always spoke of the FUN moments he had with his shipmates...ALL of those men truly were the GREAT generation, in my view!

Onw wonders what will be said of the Iraq/Iran Veterans in about 40 years.........hell, at this point, I pray we even have an America in 40 years!!
