Too many Catholics on the Supreme Court ?
Red State ^ | 7/2/2014 | Streiff

RedState.com quotes a Huffington Post article wondering whether there are too many Catholics on the Supreme Court? At present there are no Protestants on the Supreme Court.

3 are Jewish ( Kagan, Breyer, and Bader ) and the remaining 6 are Catholic. It's been noted that the Supreme Court has never reflected the demographics of the country. The Court was all white until 1967 with the appointment of Thurgood Marshall, and Sandra Day O'Conner became the first female SC justice in 1981. Andrew Jackson appointed the first Catholic SC justice, Roger Taney, in 1836.

The largest Protestant group in the United States are the Baptists, but there have been only 3 Baptist justices. There have only been 5 Methodist justices; Methodists being the 2nd largest Protestant denomination. And there has never been a Pentecostal justice.

Throughout history most of the SC justices have been Episcopalian, Presbyterian, Unitarian, and Jews. I have obtained these stats from Christianity Today which discusses more of the ramifications of religion on the Supreme Court. http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2010/mayweb-only/29-22.0.html?paging=off

The Huffington Post asks the Uncomfortable Question: "Should We Have Six Catholics on the Supreme Court?"

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ronald-a-lindsay/supreme-court-catholic-justices_b_5545055.html

Huffington Post brazenly asks whether a Catholic can be a good citizen? And whether a Catholic can be an impartial judge ? I assume that Huffington has no problem with Catholics like Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden.

An aside, a little bit off topic, but relating to the recent "Catholic" decision on the Hobby Lobby case; now that closely held companies have been granted certain freedoms of religion, should I form an LLC (Limited Liability Company) to get those same rights?

The point being, Hobby Lobby does not have to buy abortifacients for its employees. Presumably the government will now find a way to provide them free with my tax dollars. Hobby Lobby has been freed from that burden, but the average tax payer/citizen has not. But what are my rights if I am a self-employed company of 1 with an LLC?

Well, this country has always had a problem with Catholics. Some things never change.

“This Protestant doesn’t have a problem with Catholics on the supreme court.”

Nor do I. Was just posting an article by the latest progressive temper tantrum. It was the Pope, Polish Catholics, and Ronald Reagan who helped topple the USSR.

Yeah we know they aren’t Catholics. Just self-professed ones. But I assume they are the kind of “Catholics” the left can abide.

And we know the kind of Catholic they make Time’s Man of the Year.

Yea, I agree. Let’s do this... We keep the Catholics that are already there but add 3 or 4 Southern Baptists. That would, you know, balance things out.

Hey HuffPo . . why not ask why so many Jewish justices?

Why not ask why so many Jewish justices over time?

Why not ask if Sotemayor, Marshall, O’Connor, Thomas, Kagan and Ginsburg were token appointees and ask why that isn’t racism and sexism?

Thomas is a Catholic convert (like me)...

Actually, Thomas is a "revert." He was raised Catholic and actually considered becoming a priest at one point. He studied at a seminary in Missouri (Immaculate Conception??? not sure of the name), but decided the priesthood wasn't for him. He got mad at the Church in the 60's while attending college and stopped attending. He reconciled with the Church sometime around the time he married his current wife. He writes about all this in his memoir, My Grandfather's Son.

He traveled quite a road to get back to the Church. But I guess all of our jouneys across the Tiber are full of twists and turns (I’m a ocnvert myself).

Totalitarians follow the same play-book, now they will institute Nuremberg Laws to eradicate intellectuals, religious, professionals and class criminals from all government positions.

The Democratic Party has taken over the IRS and converted it to their political enforcement wing, much like the fascist Black Shirts, to silence and intimidate political opponents. What they have done are illegal, un-American and impeachable actions. They have destroyed lives, released information illegally, falsely accused people of domestic terrorism, racism and then fined, silenced and shredded their Constitutional rights for the sake of political power. Freedom of Speech has been denied, Freedom of Assembly, Freedom to Petition the Government - all the sacred rights that so many American soldiers have died for, these fundamental rights were sacrificed to secure a political re-election for Barack Obama. Then they lied, covered up, destroyed evidence, stonewalled and continue to do so until this day.

This is the Soviet Union, and the mainstream media is the new Pravda. There can be no justice when the guardians themselves are corrupt. We are not getting the truth save for the power of the Internet and Fox News. They despise Fox News and I can see why since it is the only voice that has brought this grave injustice to the consciousness of Americans. There are still great institutions in this country that are not yet polluted by these totalitarians, who are bent on one party rule. There are still great freedoms in America that no other nation in the world enjoys, yet these thieves deliberately seek to weaken them for the sake of their own political power.

Where does it end; more voter fraud, more tearing down our borders, more non-enforcement of our laws, more weakening our nation, bleeding us white. Obama listened to his priest for 20 years tell him that America is evil, and that after 9/11 God Himself damned America, punished America for its racist crimes. If a man could sit there and listen to that cancer year in and year out, what is the problem with that same man shredding the Constitution, the fraudulent document of an oppressive evil white nation. Obviously there was none.

I was thinking the same thing, and we know how that religion predominantly votes. I’m not anti-Semitic; just stating facts.

All started with the Wilsonian appointment in 1916 of the first Jew to the Supreme Court, Louis Brandeis, who vigorously supported Wilson in 1912. Felix Frankfurter, appointed by Franklin Roosevelt, was likely the most conservative of the Jewish justices that have been on the Supreme Court.

About the only place you can find a conservative Jewish Supreme Court is in Israel.

OweBowMao owes his patron saint, Jeremiah Wright, and he could appoint him as the first United Church of Christ Supreme Court justice.

The process of noose tightening is best done slowly so as to prolong the agony as breath becomes more and more labored.
