I don’t know the answer to the question “is she any good”. From what I have read, she graduated from the Naval Academy in 1992. That means she has been a commissioned officer for 22 years. Any Officer that rises to the 4 star rank in that short period of time is very very good OR she, has some powerful political friends.
she graduated in 1982... commanded her first ship in 1999...
Affirmative Action is alive and thriving as Obama works hard to emasculate the American Military.
1982
Whoa. . .22yrs and a 4-star.
I will look into this as something is very, very wrong if this is true. No one is THAT good. No one. Even the fastest rising star can’t make O-7 until at least 20 years, let alone 4-stars at 22-yrs.
Something is wrong here. . .
I will go look up her bio. .
Here is UN Navy link to their flag bios. . .she is not listed. . .http://www.navy.mil/navydata/bios/bio_list_ret.asp
I will keep looking. . .
Had the wrong link. Here is the correct link: http://www.navy.mil/navydata/bios/navybio.asp?bioID=394
I think it’s the latter. My father was 20 years Air Force, so I don’t know how it is in the Navy, but he retired a full Colonel. He hold me that when you start moving into flag officer territory it’s not just about talent, it’s about playing politics, and the higher you move up, the more politics takes the place of talent. Because 22 years is a reaaallly short time to get to 4-Star.
As with most flag officers, the more likely reason is the latter. Political connections; true leadership abilities usually have nothing to do with those who are on the fast-track.
No one rises to the 4 star level in 22 years. That doesn’t mean she isn’t good. It does mean, however, that she hasn’t paid her dues.
