Yes, the big question is whether conservatives/ tea-partyers will stay home in November, proudly cutting off their noses to spite their faces and the country, by letting the Dems continue to control the Senate -- or put the country ahead of their hurt feelings and help the GOP capture the Senate.

We now know for a fact Connie Cochran asks them to switch the books. Blatant fraud. No sane person would support Thad now!

Bye-bye Thad. None of those 35,000 Dems will vote for you in the general election and all those conservatives you pissed on will sit at home.

You've got a nice home and car with the Republican Party and you've sworn to be with them until "death do you part". So wipe year tears, put some make up on your black eyes, try not to use your broken arm for a few weeks and smile while you pray the GOPe doesn't have to smack you around again. And if anyone asks, remember you ran into the door frame again. And if you try to leave, well... accidents worse than running into the door frame can happen.

The question is whether the method of putting the country first is to go for the short term win and let the GOPe have this one (again), or punish them in a way they will always remember and go for a longer term win for the country. And looking at how the GOPe is draining the Virginia party accounts to punish Brat, I no longer take their call for "party unity over all" seriously.

Yep.

And you’re going to be flamed for telling the truth.

What this really looks like is the best shot the TEA Party ever had of picking up a major win a three-way split.

Dems regularly get a third of the vote in MS, I've read. Cochran can't get half of the Republican vote. A write-in campaign for McDaniels in MS has a better chance than Murkowski had in AK.

I almost want him to run as a write in, however Harry Reid is a wrecking ball to this country. I am not a big fan of the DC GOP establishment, but its better than Reid and the democraps.

Sooner or later we have to stop rewarding mediocrity; and that term is being generous to the likes of Cochran. What good is the Senate when the sole motivator for capturing it is to score the chairmanships so the republicans can spend us into oblivion to enrich themselves, families, friends and supporters? The gop wants to appeal to democrats? See how far it gets them in November. Even better, show up and vote for the democrat.

Corrupt politicians and political organizations need to learn the error of their ways.

Democrats were crossing their fingers that Chris McDaniel would be the Republican nominee in Mississippi.

What pure crap

It is ludicrous to think that this country can be saved via the ballot box. Cloward/Priven is now the conservative’s best hope as our Constitution must rise from the ashes if it is ever going to be meaningful again. In the meantime, FTGOP!

Karl Rove....is that you?

I'm really sick and tired of being taken for granted but apparently you get off on BOHICA. You can have it. I'm done!

And what? The GOP's gonna get a back bone when they gain the majority? Keep dreaming.

McCain and the RINOs preach the virtue of reaching across the aisle. Maybe it’s time for us to reach across the aisle and support the Democrat.

Yes, the big question is whether conservatives/ tea-partyers will stay home in November, proudly cutting off their noses to spite their faces and the country, by letting the Dems continue to control the Senate -- or put the country ahead of their hurt feelings and help the GOP capture the Senate.

Come election day, Cochran will win easily. The race will be called 1 second after the polls close. McDaniel was the better candidate and the true choice of most Republican primary voters, but the Cochran campaign and its allies pulled every dirty trick in the book and won. It's a lesson learned, movement conservatives will adapt and work to counter this sort of thing in the future.

What is at stake here is the Senate majority. Even if Cochran were a dead skunk who could cast only one single vote for a Republican majority leader instead of Reid, he'd be better than the Democrat.

With no filibuster to stop Obama nominees, he has 2 more years after 2014 to stack the 3rd branch of government (Judiciary) with liberal ideologues. Cochran will help the Republicans slow walk and block as many as possible simply by casting that one vote for a GOP Senate, the Democrat (Childers) will vote to keep Reid in power.

Politics is filthy and dirty and people should not put their faith in ANY politician. Even the ones we like best will do just about anything to further their career and power. It is not a shock that a 30+ year veteran in the pocket of the Mississippi Republican establishment would call in every chit to stay in power. Getting a Republican Senate is just too important as it will grind Obama's nominating powers to a crawl, most conservatives/Republicans in Mississippi will figure this out very easily.

The flat out truth of the matter is that the Democrat candidate for Senator is more conservative than is Thad Cochran. Cochran's living with his secretary and his being out of touch with his constituents is going to be a major hindrance to his reelection and the Democrats are going to pound this fact into the ground. Childers has already mentioned that Cochran should debate him. That too is going to be a real sticking point. Cochran got away without debating McDaniel but he won't with Childers.

There are a lot of Freepers that contend that the GOP must lose the Senate in order to either teach them a lesson or else that they must vote for the “loser” no matter what, because the GOP winner is simply not right in all ways for their own political views.

In other words, there has been for quite a while a lot of Freepers cutting off their noses to spite their faces ... :-) ...

I’ve already seen posts that all of McDaniel’s supporters must vote for the Democrat in the coming general election ... LOL ...

It apparently doesn’t take much to turn some people into Democrats!

or put the country ahead of their hurt feelings and help the GOP capture the Senate

Just STOP with the patronizing, pompous-assed lectures and the hold-you-nose-and-vote mantra, okay?

I've been doing exactly that for going on FORTY years now, and what has it accomplished? NOTHING!

There is MORE graft, MORE corruption LESS accountability and the party is still not only veering left, they insist on being the Democrat's whipping post. WHY should I fight for someone who won't even bother to defend themselves?

If the GOPe had any interest in it's base AT ALL, we would not be seeing the mess in Mississippi, and if they were SO worried about losing they would listen on occasion.

So if failing to support treacherous backstabbers mean the Democrats win, LET THEM!

I, for one, will no longer BE the Republican's bitch!

Got it? GOOD!

Can McD run as a 3d party or write in candidate? He would have a real chance to win.

What happened in MS puts the lie to the claim that there’s a difference between the GOPe and the Democrats.
