People focus too much on race, says T.W. Shannon, a sixth-generation Oklahoman and member of the Chickasaw Nation. Whats more important, he says, is what you believe and how youre going to govern. (SNIP)
When asked about other political figures who inspire him, Shannon names Jeb Bush, the former Florida governor. That would not have been the first response of most attendees at CPAC, where libertarian Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) won a straw poll as the preferred next presidential candidate.
Shannon says he likes Bushs stance on education. Its a tragedy, he adds, that the number one determinant of a childs life trajectory should be his zip code.
Even Tom Cole was pushing amnesty until threatened to dump the Dreamers in his district.
I think Bridenstine should run against Lankford for the full Senate term in 2016.
Bridenstine should have run this time.
He loses and becomes a 1 term Congressman. He can also probably have a better look at who might win the house primary if he was to vacate in 2016.
I despise Tom Coburn. I expect he’ll be a member of the SPLC any day now.
It is a good thing he retired. It created 2 races in 2014 and 2016. Coburn would have kept winning. It is more likely that Lankford than Coburn could be beaten in 2016.
Sen Rand PAul and the RNC are doing outreach to black voters so how come they didn’t all endorse Shannon????

I dont know if Rand gets involved in primaries except for Brannon. I think he knew Brannon pretty well. Brannon was actually a good candidate. I hope runs again maybe against Renee Ellmers or Senator Burr.
With his new found pandering Rand probably avoids getting involved in primaries involving amnesty as an issue.
He didn’t even call out Lamar Alexander, who is worse than Graham and Cochran, for pretending to have his endorsement.
Shannon did have some establishment links.

I didn’t really like either candidate, although I preferred Shannon.
Both are party tools, but Lankford is a serious party hack.
I was talking to my sister-in-law yesterday and asked who she was voting for. She and others I talked to said they were voting for Lankford because Shannon’s goal of ending the Department of Education wasn’t realistic and Lankford was more connected to his church.
The only reason Shannon’s goal isn’t realistic is because they (the voters) decided it wasn’t realistic. We Oklahomans are getting the government we deserve. If you aim for the stars you might hit the mountain. If you aim for the refrigerator, you’re probably going to end up on the kitchen floor.
