Seeking to mobilize a global front against anti-gay violence and discrimination, Vice President Joe Biden declared Tuesday that protecting gay rights is a defining mark of a civilized nation and must trump national cultures and social traditions.
Biden told a gathering of U.S. and international gay rights advocates that President Barack Obama has directed that U.S. diplomacy and foreign assistance promote the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender men and women around the world
"I don't care what your culture is," Biden told about 100 guests at the Naval Observatory's vice presidential mansion. "Inhumanity is inhumanity is inhumanity. Prejudice is prejudice is prejudice."(continued)

Sooooo, what happened to the US being a big, bad “cultural hegemon”? Some hegemony must be more equal than others.
Where do we go? Several years ago I thought I had a “word” from the Lord. You know what I mean, a thought that comes to you and seemed to be planted by God. I’ve never really had that happen any other time, at least consciously, that I can remember. Anyways, He wanted me to go to Israel. I didn’t obey Him because I would have been alone in another country with no money to bring and no prospects at job, housing plus I had a teenaged child. Part of me wishes I had faith that He would take care of me and just jump in but I’ve always been one afraid to take risks.
