Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press," Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) warned conservatives when it comes to immigration reform the party needs to “get beyond” the term amnesty and move the focus to border security and work visas. The Kentucky Republican said, "I don't think any immigration reform will get out of Washington. I do think there is a path to a secure border and an expanded work visa program."
“I think that everyone needs to be for some form of immigration reform because the status quo is untenable," he continued. "So I consider myself a bridge to conservative community because I’m about as conservative as they come, a little libertarian too ... If we do nothing, 11 million more people will come illegally, so we have to do something.”

I actually agree with the work visa program. it is a fantastic way to get business cheap labor without importing people who don’t want to be Americans, and otherwise don’t respect us or our laws.
Such a program could then be controlled and ineverably weened to drive up unskilled wages in a controlled way.

Short of militarizing and land-mining the border, the southern border will never be secure.
Of course Washington will never do that unless and until Mexico becomes a major military threat on the level of North Korea is to South Korea. (Don’t hold your breath).
If you want to live in a real political world, your going to have to recognize that the only political force that is going to drive foreigners out of our country is going to be that which sees them as uninvited and unfair competition for jobs, land and resources. As well as Cultural collapse and replacement with foreign cultures more friendly to neighboring nations and hostile to our own.
Unfortunately most of that demographic is currently in the hands of the Democratic party, which gleefly ignores them in hopes of the relatively short term gains of their vote, before the same votes lead to Balkanization, and secession which seems to be the overall goal of the Democratic party in alienating the rest of the country as well with draconian and oppressive economic and political edicts.
Simply put Republicans can’t compete with democrats in the commutation war, and as a result our natural allies are still vetoing against their own interest ultimately to their own extermination. By the time blacks, and union members realize what happened to them and their country it will be too late for them to do anything meaningful about it.
Short of a major revolution in political communication on the right, this ‘country’s’ days are numbered.
Why? We’ve got foreign workers coming out of our ears.
If it requires militarizing the border to get control, then do it. Didn’t always feel that way, but recent history proves this is an invasion. It’s an economic, cultural and political invasion, but it’s very real and it’s threatening our national sovereignty and our liberty. America as we know and love it will not survive with open borders. Do whatever it takes to secure the borders!
And that’s besides the terrorism, drug cartel and health risks. Shut it down! Now!
We definitely do not have a shortage of workers. We a shortage of jobs, thanks to Obama’s idiotic policies.

He came out supposedly as a tea party favorite, but faded quickly with his asinine liberaltarian positions on amnesty, foreign policy, homo marriage, etc.
Illegal aliens already here will NEVER, I said NEVER be sent back. Why keep beating a dead horse? Nor should they be. Non criminal aliens have American born children and grandchildren. Separate families to accomplish what?

Americans are not going to do the work. I wish they would spend as much time being self righteous demanding everyone be sent back, and come up with reasonable proposals retooling the H1B/H2A visas. Then work on a program winning those groups over to conservatism.

That only underscores the problems with any guest worker programs. The only differences are skill level and line of work.
No need to control the border, all you need to do is eliminate the freebies and enforce laws concerning illegals aliens here without papers.
How long does Rand think it will take to secure the border and build a fence before a single Paulbot-Dreamer gets a work permit?
Maybe 11 million more will arrive. But how long will that take? If 11 million illegals arrive in the next 20 years that is not as big a problem as the open borders extremists who want 40 or 50 million legal migrants to arrive in the same period.
You dont need to control it 100%. We dont have 12 million illegal alien farmworkers. I doubt if 1 million are doing jobs in majority-foreign-worker industries.
So without 15 million Hispanics who stole into this country we would starve, seriously? Could you please explain why that is. Are you going to say it’s all because caucasian and black people refuse to farm anymore? Have we actually collected data for polling purposes on this? If it is true, why don’t we just keep the Hispanic farmers then, and deport all the welfare recipients and construction workers, landscapers, warehouse and office workers...you know, the ones who take the jobs Americans actually will do.

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. It figures that someone who lives so far away from the scene of the issue will have some deluded notion of what is going on. For every illegal alien crossing the border to "do the labor Americans won't do," there are scores of others, whole families, who are here to parasitically game the system for the revenues confiscated from your earnings.
I live 10 miles from the boarder and I'm surrounded by communities infested with the illegal invaders. Furthermore, I have direct, firsthand dealings with the scores of Hispanic gang members who are the spawn of these invaders, as well as the invaders themselves.
You and all the coward politicians who prattle on about visas and pathways to citizenships, i.e. amnesty, are part of the problem. There always was a pathway to citizenship. These people refuse to acclimate to the American culture and politicians, both Democrats and Republicans, continue to pander to them. More leniency, more notions of amnesty, more government hand-outs, more invaders.
It's likely your heart bleeds for those who don't play by the rules and come here with their hand out expecting free government goodies, but it's destroying us. I don't hold out any hope you will ever get it because you don't live here amongst them. So, any moronic suggestion made by your favorite politician must sound like reason to you.
Send them all back and seal up the damn door.
