Why shouldn't taxpayers be allowed to use the same excuses the IRS, and other elements of our imperial government, deploy when they get in trouble? Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) aims to make it happen with his "The Dog Ate My Tax Receipts Act."

TOPICS: Crime/Corruption; Government; News/Current Events
KEYWORDS:
"Taxpayers should be allowed to offer the same flimsy, obviously made-up excuses the Obama Administration uses," Stockman declared, offering legislation that would require the IRS to accept any of the following reasons when we can't meet their demands for documentation: 1. The dog ate my tax receipts 2. Convenient, unexplained, miscellaneous computer malfunction 3. Traded documents for five terrorists 4. Burned for warmth while lost in the Yukon 5. Left on table in Hillarys Book Room 6. Received water damage in the trunk of Ted Kennedys car 7. Forgot in gun case sold to Mexican drug lords 8. Forced to recycle by municipal Green Czar 9. Was short on toilet paper while camping 10. At this point, what difference does it make?

It’s true, but he was just being facetious I’m sure.

We should be able to use the Charlie Rangel rule.
It worked for him.

Yes, Mr Auditor, my records are missing and can not be found. They were stored on Lois Lerner’s hard drive.

Yes, Mr Auditor, I was dealing with Lois Lerner regarding this matter and she emailed that the issue was closed with no further action required. I’m sure if you check her emails you will find the notice.

This is in your face to the liberalsNo it isn't. It's submissive posturing, turning a coup into a farce.
In your face would be a court order from the DC Circuit Court to produce evidence, and Federal marshals setting up access control at the IRS building.
One thing you have to give the Democrats - when they decided to get rid of a President who recently got 520 electoral votes and 60.8% of the popular vote, they didn't f*** around with stupid mockery and irony.

Dear IRS I no longer have access to the financial information you are looking for. You see in order to make ends meet and to keep my business running and my family fed I decided to save some money and buy a used computer at a government auction.
Unfortunately the computer I bought seems to the same one once used by Lois Lerner and it has the this quirk you can enter data in but when you go to retrieve it it just disappears.
PS: If you don’t get this e-mail its because I sent it to you on that same computer.

Aye Jim, but you gotta admit that the one thing that drives the “masters of ridicule” absolutely crazy is ridicule. Anything that aggravates them is okay by me.

IRS contracted with email archiving company in 2005′ Is that a smoking gun I smell? It turns out the IRS contracted with a company that provides email backup services starting in 2005. This first came to light in the Twitter feed of moregenr, who noticed that the IRS appears on the client list of email archiving service provider Sonasoft.
