CONGRESSMAN: HOUSE WOULD VOTE TO IMPEACH
WND ^ | 6-17-14 | BOB UNRUH

Posted on 06/18/2014 7:31:12 PM PDT by kingattax

Another member of the U.S. House has joined the conversation about the possibility of impeaching President Obama for illegal activities, confirming his colleagues probably would vote for the move.

The comments come from Rep. Lou Barletta, R-Pa., in an interview with radio host Gary Sutton.

“We have a president who has taken this to a new level. And it’s put us in a real … position where he’s just absolutely ignoring the Constitution, ignoring the laws, ignoring the checks and balances,” he said.

“The problem is, what do you do? … For those who say impeach him for breaking the laws or not enforcing the laws, you know. Could that pass, in the House? It probably, it probably could. Are the majority of American people in favor of impeaching President Obama? I’m not sure,” he said.

He cited the recent primary election loss for House Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va.

“I think what happened in Virginia is what you’re going to start seeing around the country. … They’re going to look at their specific member of Congress and their own U.S. senator. If they don’t feel you’re standing up for them, they’re going to throw you out and they’re going to send somebody else there.”

Obama protected himself from an impeachment leading to removal by tapping Joe Biden as his VP. This guy isn’t stupid. If you think Biden wasn’t picked for that reason alone, why was he? Certainly not for his intelligence...

Impeaching him is only theater unless there are 67 votes in the Senate.

And guess who will be reviewing the production? Yep. The MSM!

As long as the MSM retains its hold on the low-information pukes, impeachment without two thirds of the Senate is likely a bad idea.

Slow Joe is way smarter than the Chief. Not saying much!

Fact is, if we had the resources to oust Obsma, there would be no reason not to oust Biden shortly thereafter, and swear in President Boehner (retch!). But we don't. So, it just a Gedankenexperiment.

“If the substantial number of charges are laid out, clearly supported and made public, there is no question IMO that a majority in America will support impeachment and removal.”

Ninety-eight percent of blacks will never support Hussein’s impeachment. And please don’t expect them to make logical decisions based on information (”substantial number of charges”). Ditto for 50% of Hispanics. And there are the yellow dog dems who are ignorant and glory in their ignorance.

Correct. House = indict, Senate = trial, Chief Justice presiding.

You may get the indictment, but you will never get a conviction out of the Senate because of McConnell, Graham, McCain, Alexander, et al.

Rock and a hard place here. Even if you indicted them both, you’d be left with Boehner if they are convicted in the Senate. Just damn!

Right, Senate hearing not trial.

My point is that the Nervous Nellie Anti Impeachment Caucus here are acting exactly like Boehner and the rest of the limp noodle Republicans.

When they - the repubs - acquiesce and refuse to fight, we heap the scorn that they deserve. We demand that they use the power that they DO have, but refuse to exercise.

I am at the point in my life where principle and morality trump every political consideration. Living of fear of what might happen from doing the right thing is not my choice.

Sad to say, it just won’t happen. The last 12mos of his regime-from-hell will be something we can’t even begin to imagine in the final transformation/destruction of our Republic.

America... a good idea while it lasted.

I hear you.

I am hopeful that the renewed enthusiasm created by conservative victories in Nov will light a fire in the Senate and House for Impeachment.

But it clearly will not happen before that.

If November is the hinge, why not set the table by pushing the matter to the fore as a campaign issue?

If individual politicians thought it would help their campaigns in Nov, they would.

Re: your #46. I do not agree with your estimates but, fortunately, we can have a majority even if it excludes 98% of blacks and 50% of Hispanics.

More importantly, the process does not depend directly on a popular vote. Again, if all of the charges are presented and properly supported then, notwithstanding every effort of the MSM, it should be outrageous enough to convince a handful of Senate Dems that they do not want to be on the wrong side of history.

As others have noted above, perhaps the greater danger is that the current Republican leadership would interfere in the preparation of the case, just as it did with the Clinton fiasco.

That, sir, bears repeating.

“I am almost preferring to absorb a loss with McConnell this fall, just to sweep him off the decks once and for all.”

There’s no “almost” for me. If we retake the Senate with Scrotum Neck still as ML, Nothing will get done at best. At worst we will see amnesty and a bunch of stuff done for the Chamber of Communists.

give him $100 million and beach front mansion with a golf course, he might. It would be the best investment of tax payer money ever.
