I am willing to hold my breath, but I'll probably faint at around 2 minutes, and then I'll start breathing again involuntarily. You'll have to work fast, Mr. P.
Ready? Go! . . .
There are large groups that conservatives and/or the GOP will have a hard time making any headway in, but that doesn’t mean that we have to stop trying. Is Reince going to convince one member of an organization of “Black Journalists”, who put their skin color as their primary world view?
Of course not. But repeated, consistent outreach plays with the low-information voters in the middle, and shows that the caricature of the “racist right-winger” isn’t true, and blunts the scare tactic used by the left to drive voters to them, or at least away from our side.
I applaud this effort. We can’t continue to concede 98% of the black vote. We need to be honest and frank and not promise the moon. Jack Kemp’s ideas about enterprise zones in the inner city should be resurrected. Blacks are an integral part of our national fabric and must be courted by conservatives. Rand Paul was right in addressing the NAACP. We must market our ideas of smaller gov’t, free enterprise, profit motive, and family values to this constituency.
I hope he tells them how the Democrats push for welfare and social programs have kept Blacks as susstandard citizens, living in poor conditions, and leading to a life of crime and drugs as they’re only way out. The New Deal and Great Society and 40 years of Democrat welfare have set minorities way back. Republicans fight for job-training and better lives.
