You make a very fine argument, xins. I repent, relent and retreat, and you can’t imagine how excruciatingly painful it is to do so.
McConnell facilitates outright treason in the land, despises Christian colleagues and conservatives, obviously, and regularly supports wicked colleagues and advances abortion loving nominees, (as *nickcarraway reminds us) which makes him complicit in the deed himself.
But because on paper he has a zero with NARAL, I have to support his win and his evil plans against good people like Cruz and candidate McDaniel, even against goodness itself.
If I lived in KY, I would wait until the very last minute to decide.
If the R’s looked like they could get 53 seats or more, I would vote to oust McConnell.
The GOP needs to know that the old RINO school is dead.
If control was in the balance, I would vote for McConnell in order to have a prayer of shutting down Obama and setting up for 2016 straight.
I could not agree more.
Take back the Senate, then let the leadership there deal with McConnell. Let him be replaced from within.
I don’t think McConnell is a liberal. I think he’s been in DC so long that he has become a cronyist of the Chamber of Commerce.
He remains pro-life, though, and that is my touchstone issue.
Rita, I think Cruz, Lee, Sessions, McDaniels and the few other conservatives deserve a chance to change the Senate from the position of being in the majority.
I have no doubt that Cruz has the boldness to nail the republicans to the wall at each misstep.
Give him that chance.

I’m not a Kentuckian, but being right across the river I know a good number of Kentuckians. I will encourage them, first, NOT to vote for Grimes. I’ll ask them to consider voting for McConnell, so the true conservatives will get a chance at being in the majority and holding the other republicans’ feet to the fire.
I find it real hard to oppose you, JRF, because McConnell has been wrong on the fiscal things just like you say he has.
But, the way I’m looking at it now:
God thinks debt is stupid.
God thinks killing babies is evil.
I would encourage them to vote for McConnell for that reason, and especially so, since Grimes is a radical pro-abortionist.
I will continue to work to politically destroy liberal republicans, whenever and however I can, at the primary or at the general election.
A liberal republican majority in the Senate is still a liberal majority. Last time, they ganged up with the Dems to block conservative legislation.

As I followed the thread, I stumbled onto where you gave us an “out”.
You explain that you are speaking only to those conservatives who would actually cast a vote FOR Grimes, in order to ditch Mitch. You are not opposing those who would write-in another pro-Life candidate rather than vote for Mitch.
Few to none, here, who are arguing with you, would cast a vote for abortion loving Grimes for all the very righteous reasons you suggest.
This “out”, makes the difference in the direction of this thread, to me anyway, and it solves the problem for both sides of the argument, in my opinion.
We mustn’t not vote at all, nor vote for evil, but use our hard won right to vote given to us in blood by sacred honor, for a Republic such as this, trusting God Almighty to take care of the rest, come judgement or blessing.
I look around and rather expect chastisement, even judgement. May God be with us, dear xzins.
No, I don’t think it is dreaming to believe that Cruz will speak out. He’s been fearless so far, and I don’t think that will stop.
So, I’d like to see him get the chance to operate from the majority side of the Senate.
That would be better than Frazier/Ali. I’d buy a ticket to it.
Writing in a non candidate is merely rationalization. It is no difference from not voting at all.
In America, we have two parties. The parties select candidates from among the various coalition members. As a very general rule, to be meaningful beyond enhancing one’s self esteem, votes must be cast for one of the two primaried contenders.
I have been a supporter of voter freedom since before even John McCain. I’m not one to tell people they waste their vote if they vote for a truly conservative third party candidate.
However, in a place like Ohio, a write-in doesn’t count if that write in candidate isn’t pre-registered to receive write-ins. So, I’d have that caution in place. I don’t know Kentucky’s rules on that.
But, if a person’s integrity requires them to deny their vote to a party favorite, then I’m not arguing with them or telling them they’re helping to elect someone else.
What they’re doing is voting their conscience. And that’s exactly what I’ve been saying all along. God should guide your vote.
I’m suggesting to jrandomefreeper, however, that I’d like to see Cruz, Lee, McDaniels, Sessions, and the true conservatives get a chance to be in the majority. I think Cruz is fearless and will speak out against any liberal votes by the cronyist republicans.
They will toe the line, or Cruz will reveal them for who they really are.

The option to write-in is also “meaningful”, and is supported by the constitutional authority of all states and both parties in those states, presumably to serve a necessary purpose. Think McKowsky, (sp), of Alaska.
Resistance is hard, and then there is that pesky conscience.

You didn’t get the message did you xzins? Abortion is a Court issue now; not a legislative issue. No matter who wins this seat, 6 years from now, we will still have people killing little babies in the womb. McConnell and the Pubbies didn’t stop it when they had the White House, House of Representatives and the Senate. So, what more harm can she do on the issue of abortion?

You get conservative governance by building an effective conservative movement that has the support of the people. We’re talking large scale organizational effort, the winning back of our institutions, the winning of the war of ideas, the literal changing of the way people think about things. Staying home or writing in candidates or daydreaming about a more perfect conservative party or needling the Republicans is so tiny and useless compared to what actually needs to happen that it’s almost not even worth arguing over.
Hardly. Just someone that knows that 49 is better than 48; 51 is better than 50; and 53 is better than 52 when it comes to having a chance at Conservatism taking hold in Washington.
The more Republicans in Congress, the more likely that voices like Harry Reid and Upchuck Schumer get marginalized.
The more Republicans in the majority, the more margin for error when it comes to passing the Conservative agenda. It doesn't matter as much what Lindsay, McRino and McConnell think.
Instead of trying to convince conservatives to vote for your liberal republicans, perhaps you should warn your liberal republican leadership that they are going to go the way of the whigs if they don't get right.
I will NOT stop just because you whine. I will see the liberal republicans politically destroyed.
