A proposed ban against New York health professionals trying to change a child’s sexual orientation through therapy comes too late for Matthew Shurka, a 26-year-old Long Island man who says he remains emotionally scarred from five years of attempts to “cure” his homosexuality.
“My anxiety was at its worst,” Shurka said of the therapy that began when he was 16. “I never attempted suicide, but I had a lot of suicidal thoughts and dreams and thinking about it, considering it.” […]
New York’s Democratic-led Assembly is set to consider a bill on Wednesday that would ban the therapy on minors. Bans against gay conversion therapy have already gone into law in New Jersey and California. A proposed ban was voted down in Illinois in April.
Sen. Brad Hoylman, who sponsored the measure and is the only openly gay member of the Senate, said that he heard from a man who had electrodes attached to his genitalia to curb his homosexual desires. …

So how long until the saving blood of Christ becomes an illegal “anti-homosexual therapy”?
Minors? Therapy needs to be available at puberty. Sexual activity begins a lot earlier than the age of majority.
Next, they’ll be banning weight-watcher programs for making the overweight think bad thoughts about their condition, while causing anorexics to starve and purge themselves.
Funny - Che De Blasio’s wife was once a lesbian, but decided to marry a man, have children with him, and stay with him as husband-and-wife for 20+ years now.
So much for homosexuality being immutable part of one’s character.
What makes these bastards think they have a right to make a law like that?
Often one is never “cured” of a mental illness or addiction.
But we must do everything we can to help these people.
Even when the kid, the parents, and the therapist all agree on it. This is pure totalitarianism.
The APA constructively shut down research on preventing/curing homosexuality in the mid-70s when it took homosexuality off the DSM due to political pressure by homosexuals within and outside of the APA. They don’t WANT to cure homosexuality, so all the kids and young men who have same-sex attraction disorder have no choice but to adopt the sordid lifestyle of homosexuality.
Sad for those who would love to be cured and sad for moms and dads who know that their kid is taking it up the rear.
The only way to cure a teenager of homosexuality is to praise his/her courageous decision and tell them you will support them any way you can, to even change the curtains in their room if that’s what they desire. It works even better if you are a conservative.
Teens rebel. The more you say no, the more they will go against you. It even includes going gay for the shock value. Once the groupthink gets control of the kid, it is over. Nothing you can do.
Supporting them confuses them. It makes them think about what they are doing and what the consequences are. To a point where they beg for therapy.
It works.
Thanks to that culture back in the 70s and 80s, we now have AIDs running rampant.
Well, homosexuals are much more likely to think about suicide. Why blame it on the therapy?
