Sen. Rand Paul: With Utmost Respect, You're Wrong About This
American Thinker ^ | May 28, 2014 | By Lloyd Marcus

Perhaps it is due to me being a PK (preacher’s kid), with fond childhood memories of adoringly watching my dad preach well-prepared sermons at the Holy Temple Church of Truth storefront in a Baltimore ghetto. But the Bible remains my ultimate reference source for wisdom and leadership.

Moses, who led the Israelite people out of slavery, is an excellent example of what to do and what not to do as a leader. His decisions were rooted in obedience to God's instructions which, proved to be most beneficial to his flock. Moses ignored vehement critics and even the threat of being stoned to death. He did the right thing even when it did not jive with popular opinion. That is leadership, folks.

On one occasion, due to pressure from his people, Moses disobeyed God and took matters into his own hands. God's punishment was harsh. God told Moses he would not be permitted to bring his people into the Promised Land. Leaders do not surrender, making decisions which they know to be wrong to appease bullies, manipulators, and the ignorant.

A case in point is Senator Rand Paul. Sen. Paul is out there saying that the GOP should back away from requiring a photo ID to vote.

Common sense tells us that requiring a photo ID to vote is a reasonable, logical way to prevent voter fraud. Since a photo ID is required to complete a plethora of transactions, what is the big deal? Thus, it is absurd to call the photo ID requirement to vote racist.

even without the utmost respect he is wrong.

requiring a photo ID to vote will stop a significant amount of vote fraud and that is the whole idea !

saying that this discriminates and prevents minority people from voting is beyond stupid. stop it !

go into any inner city and offer people $100 if they show something with their photo on it and see what happens !

Requiring a photo ID has to be racist and discriminatory...

If 110% of a precinct votes 100% for a D, who are we to argue?

It's not just stupid, it's an out and out lie.

Rand Paul has gone over to the dark side!

Tempest in a teapot. Meanwhile the Titanic is sinking after hitting the $4 trillion government iceberg.

If requiring a Photo ID to vote is unconstitutional,(and discriminatory!) SO IS requiring one to buy a gun!

Lloyd,

Rand Paul’s statements and positions removed any respect he may have had coming. He deserves to be treated with the contempt of any Dem or RINO that takes the positions he has. Respect is earned than he did the polar opposite of earning it.

Now if one is a Democrat, then I can see respecting him since he and they share many values. But Rand and conservatives now have little in common.

respectfully, this issue is NOT a tempest in a teapot.

making sure that we have fair and legitimate elections is absolutely fundamental to our system of government.

the size of the federal govt. and out of control spending is of course serious and needs to be remedied as do all the other serious issues that are eroding our country.

The Left wants the Right to commit suicide over matters that are trivial compared to the $4 trillion government coup d'tat of America. The Right seems willing to oblige. If the Right doesn't get its act together and unite against this one HUGE issue, we'll have to look somewhere other than elections to find deliverance from our would-be slave-masters.

Having said that, do you know of a valid argument that a federal requirement for a photo ID to vote would be unconstitutional?

a lot of folks will argue that there was not very much that rand paul ever had in common with real conservatism.

An exit poll was taken among African-American voters in one city after the last election in a predominantly black neighborhood. 78% of those who answered said they supported voter ID BECAUSE of the voter fraud. Will this poll see the light of day? NO! it is not politically correct, so it cannot be valid.

“Senator Paul said that the GOP should not push something that is “offensive” to a group of people.”

Blacks ought to be offended that the Rats think them too stupid to be able to obtain a government ID.

Generally I would be one of them. Although I will admit that he has made SOME conservative points/statements prior to his recent wholesale adoption of traditionally left wing positions. But overall, He is indeed his father’s son. And he proves it with frequency.

Rand Paul has been running counter to his previous stands on SEVERAL things now. He hopes people are not noticing that he has shifted and is more like Ron Paul than Ron Paul was! HA! I’d like to see a thread that connects the dots over the past couple years since he started saying one thing and voting another. I do not trust him any more. It would be hard for me to vote for him, even if he won the republican nod. He has so prostrated himself to the left so that he can get the left-leaning independent vote that I do not trust him to be conservative at all. Remember that the Left demands payback for their loyalty, and should Paul get elected with their help, there’s be some dues owed to them. Sorry, but if he thinks he can only win by acting shifty, then he does not deserve the presidency.

great post.

this should be sourced and sent to every congresscritter in DC by millions of people who DEMAND a photo ID be required to vote and that vote fraud be stopped.

making sure that we have fair and legitimate elections is absolutely fundamental to our system of government

Of course and there's a million way to do that. Photo ID is one way and there are other ways. We could argue that from now 'till Moses. Don't let the Left create these distractions from the potentially fatal gash in the hull of the Titanic caused by that government-iceberg. None of this stuff will matter once the Titanic is on the ocean floor.

Of course fair elections are important. But that's like repairing the window in your state room while the whole freaking ship is sinking. Once the Collectivist federal government has successfully established unlimited power and abolished the Constitution, do you think our squabble about voter ID will matter in the least? I don't think so.

If the Right doesn't stay focused, the Left and the MSM will happily take them down any road to keep the Right from focusing on cutting 80% of the federal government.

So, you're essentially saying give Rand Paul a pass on this and overlook his increasingly establishment GOP-e RINO Republican ways?

If that's the case, no thanks.

Really. The GOP sure doesn’t care if I’m offended by what they push.

Idiot.

If you are so busy with other issues, then why are you here pushing democrat voting corruption which helps keep them in power?
