No wonder he (Obama!) reacted so quickly.

The coup leaders are fighting communists.

The people of Thailand deserve what they get.

Over and over again, even elections have not been enough and upon losing the losers create a militant opposition, take over the streets, hold political progress hostage, bring down a government, get a new election, obtain a slim majority which is not accepted by THEIR opponents and the whole thing starts over again.

Sometimes this cycle is immediate. Sometimes a government has a small period of political peace, but most of the time the need for a transition to a new government arises out of protests and not in the normal election cycle process.

I used to see the Thai military as the bad guys.

Maybe they know and understand the Thai people better than everyone OUTSIDE of Thailand.

hmmm..after the coup in Egypt, we continued to give money and weapons to the new regime. Arizona Senator Jeff Flake explained on his Facebook page that it was just honoring America’s commitment.

Your post is spot-on.

Keep on posting that because many here forget those points and foolishly take Obama’s side in some matter. i.e. The mess in Ukraine. As you point out, Obama has always taken the wrong side in everything and I doubt that is ever going to change.

Of course, a stopped clock is right twice a day, but so far I have not seen Obama’s stopped clock ever reading correctly.

The curfew is country-wide.

Sorry, Leo. I have no idea. I’m quite isolated here.

The TV and radio stations are just playing traditional or nationalist music - no actual broadcasting at all, which is normal during these coups, so there’s no news coming from them.

But I happened to ask a Thai friend last night about the curfew in another area, and she reminded me that it is indeed country-wide.

I’m not much up on the local politics, but my impression after living here for a long time and through many upheavals is that the majority of protesters/demonstrators regardless of party are paid. I actually have distant family in Issan that have been there, done that, including organizing.

>>There is no danger to going to Thailand as a tourist despite all the media blather. Stay away from protests, don’t take sides and get involved in their politics, use common sense as you always should, carry identification if out outside curfew hours or near police/military checkpoints, and anyone can still have a great visit.

Excellent advice!

Just a little big of Trivia.

It was written as a Villain Song. So it is natural it would have a "bad" theme.

She was suppose to become evil after that (like so many other animated movies) and Frozen is based after the Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen. Where the Snow Queen is the villain, al la Elsa.

But the Producers thought the song was awesome they changed the whole course of the movie, for better or worse.

It's still not as good as Disney's Best Villain Song However, Hellfire https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3NoDEu7kpg

which is actually about rape O_0
