Female Marine Pullup Failure Doesn't Mean Women Aren't Strong
The Federalist ^ | January 3, 2014 | Mollie Hemingway

The Associated Press reports:

More than half of female Marines in boot camp can't do three pullups, the minimum standard that was supposed to take effect with the new year, prompting the Marine Corps to delay the requirement, part of the process of equalizing physical standards to integrate women into combat jobs.

The delay rekindled sharp debate in the military on the question of whether women have the physical strength for some military jobs, as service branches move toward opening thousands of combat roles to them in 2016.

“I would welcome anyone [man or woman] who satisfied all of the requirements - as my well being might well depend on them. But, I would not welcome anyone who couldn’t cut the mustard ...”

One of the last thing’s I did before leaving the Sheriff’s Department back in the late 70’s was train a new Deputy. She was 5-7 and weighed about 140, she roped calves and was a bulldogger, she worked out at the YMCA on a daily basis. Back then the city was dry but the county was wet and we hade 16 bar’s in the county. With 16 bar’s and this being the oilfields and ranching country your going to get into some chit and we had our share. She never backed down and held her own, she bailed me out one night when a couple of roughnecks had me on the ground, she pulled out her SAP and went to work. Pound for pound the toughest person I ever had the honor to work with.

She stayed single for another 5 years and yes the rumors were flying about her being queer (gay are lesbian was not a term used then). I got a call from her about that time inviting me to her wedding, she married a local ranchers son. She’s still here in the county and her and her husband raised 3 great kid’s. She’s never let me forget about the time she had to bail me out that night in the bar. What a LADY!

they also ignore how totally vulnerable a woman is giving birth. and that most in developed countries do it with a whole support team around them. oh well back to ignoring reality.

Giving birth is painful, dangerous, an stressful, but hardly an impressive feat of STRENGTH, considering that even the frailest of mothers do it.

Let me add that about 5 years ago I got them both started in golf, she carries an 8 handicap and he carries a 18. There is a determination, dedication and discipline in this LADY that is rarely seen in a man.

I do believe it was 1993! Thanks to the Army! They were losing all of their helicopter pilots, after the Gulf War. Since you could enter the Army on one of their WO programs with two years of college, all of their senior pilots were CWO4 at 14 with no upward mobility.

The Marines jumped on it but the Navy did not since it competed against their very successful LDO program. They eventually came around and now only the AF does not have WO,s or CWO5

There are very few CWO5’s since DOD really limited the number each MOS could have. We only rated 4 W5 Marine Gunners when I retired.

Our government's logic for gender equality in combat, BUT…exceptions are made for females when it comes to registering with SS.

In the meantime the guys get the shaft if they fail to register. Up to five years jail time and $250k fine, barred from federal training and employment; barred from receiving federal student loans and grants, and citizenship if arriving in the country before age 26.

Yes for the PFT, but they didn’t have to go through the combat conditioning course.

They’re always messing with something. Since I was in, they got rid of all the specialist ranks except E-4.

Of course, the important reason for the Wymyn types to push this stuff is for more Wymyn to get the right tickets punched for acquiring eagles and stars.

That's what this all boils down to, isn't it? Same with females on subs, etc. It's about creating "opportunities" for a tiny minority without regard to the damage it will do to the whole.

I was watching my favorite show, a Korean show with subtitles called “Running Man” and there were girly boy guests (singers) and they did 8 and 11 chin-ups, then the main host who is a 42 year old nerd did 18.

The US Marines require 3?

It’s still all BS as women in the AF get promoted and unless your are a pilot or special forces type we don’t have any direct combat units.

What years was that, and are you saying both sexes had the same PT standards?
