Gov. Tom Corbett of Pennsylvania said Wednesday that he would not appeal a judges ruling striking down Pennsylvanias ban on same-sex marriage.
With the decision, Pennsylvania became the 19th state, along with the District of Columbia, where same-sex couples are able to marry. Judge John E. Jones III of Federal District Court on Tuesday became the latest judge to throw out a series of state bans around the country, writing, It is time to discard them into the ash heap of history.
Mr. Corbett, a Republican facing a difficult re-election this year, announced his decision the day after Democratic primary voters picked Tom Wolf, a wealthy businessman, to challenge him. How long then afterward will Christians be denied permits to do business, buy things, build, walk or vacation where they want.
Like the saying goes, those that forget history are doomed to repeat it.
He can do that? That isn't the job of the legislature? Wow. Powerful position.
You will need a better explanation of how making the democrats more powerful helps conservatives.
The Pennsylvania governorship does not affect the Federal legislature, at least in the 2015-18 period. Redistricting does not occur until 2021. Punishing that state’s RINO governor is a relatively low risk way to punish the cowardly GOP-E for its duplicity on this social issue. Sometimes a strategic fallback is good strategy. It worked for George Washington during the War for Independence.
