Gov. Tom Corbett of Pennsylvania said Wednesday that he would not appeal a judges ruling striking down Pennsylvanias ban on same-sex marriage.
With the decision, Pennsylvania became the 19th state, along with the District of Columbia, where same-sex couples are able to marry. Judge John E. Jones III of Federal District Court on Tuesday became the latest judge to throw out a series of state bans around the country, writing, It is time to discard them into the ash heap of history.
Mr. Corbett, a Republican facing a difficult re-election this year, announced his decision the day after Democratic primary voters picked Tom Wolf, a wealthy businessman, to challenge him. Polls show a majority of Pennsylvanians favor legalizing same-sex marriage. Had the governor appealed the courts decision, he risked handing his opponent a potent issue on which to drive Democrats to vote.

Chris Christie also had chosen not to appeal a court order which forced homosexual marriage on New Jersey.

Too bad the gays can’t find a judge to nullify Darwinian law.
Rotten, so they are saying this is the 19th state so it would seem it is starting to get close to even between the States that have it and those that have regular marriages only. Not good news.
Governor Tom Corbett of Pennsylvania is also missing his set.
19 states may have it but it must be about 10 of them have had judges decide it, another 4 or 5, the legislatures doing it and the remainder, not many, having a public vote okay it.
I know some politicians are just scared of this topic, I know of one man who did NOT change his position being against same sex marriage but he stopped being very vocal on it, all the same.
Rather than discard God's plan, and the lessons of all of history, I think it would be much better to throw this whole crop of judges and politicians on the ash heap instead.
Sickening cowardice. And Corbett is going to lose because he is running left not only on this.
All the news channels said “Pennsylvsnia legalized gay marriage. “ no such thing happened.
The politician checks which way he thinks the political winds are blowing and acts accordingly, even if the consequences are dire.
The statesman does the right thing regardless of public opinion.
Sadly, Governor Corbett is your garden-variety politician.
I, for one, am sick and tired of hearing about this deviancy. It seems like they expect us to kiss there collective a$$es. Well, not me. They can kiss mine.
What would be the point? We’ve lost this one. It sucks, but that’s what is.
Something swept across the nation turning thousands of years of history on its head. Just a very few years ago anybody would’ve said that the concept of gay marriage was an absurdity. It would never happen. We’ve learned however that popular culture drives policy now, and pop culture has done an about-face on this topic in an astonishingly short time. The gay mafia has successfully bullied any voices of disagreement into silence. Anyone expressing discomfort is shown the fear of public shame.
This is how fascists work. You’re free to believe what you wish, but you wouldn’t want your neighbors to find out...
A GOP leader that won’t fight?
A GOP leader comfortable with his state being delivered over to deviancy?
Color me unsurprised.
I can’t help but think back to all those conventions and speeches I used to see years ago, in which the Republican Party proclaimed themselves as standing up for family values. Lying bastards.
i wonder who’s behind the swift change in heart... nothing in all of history has caused such a change in such short a time on such a thorny issue. Something tells me there is much more than just human minds behind this reversal.
“I cant help but think back to all those conventions and speeches I used to see years ago, in which the Republican Party proclaimed themselves as standing up for family values. Lying bastards.”
You nailed that one.
God help us all to find some peace.
I don’t argue about gay marriage because those behind it are really in the business of establishing tyranny and destroying the First Amendment’s guarantees of free speech and religion.
Justice Scalia said in his dissent on the cases last year that those opposing gay marriage were being “demonized”.
They are the modern equivalent of ‘witches’ in centuries past as far as the gay marriage crowd is concerned.
Governor Corbett is giving his consent to the witch hunters.
Ten years ago Karl Rove had a strategy and President Bush came to Pennsylvania to implement it by meeting Amish leaders in a tent in Lancaster County, PA. The GOP lobbied the plain people to get behind Bush because he was for marriage being between a man and woman.
We have come a long way, baby....
