I’m also a hugh Plante fan. SInce his return to WMAL, I have to admit he’s become my fav talk guy. Tho I’ll always love Rush. Fortunately, between them, that’s 6 solid hours.

All numbers are estimates and guesswork. For Rush, I’ve seen guesses between 14 million and 25 million. Regardless, he still draws a big crowd, talk-radiowise.

I don't like Savage savaging Maha Rushie so much. It reeks of jealously. Savage has also been on the wrong side of issues such as the Zimmerman/Trayvon snafu.

Mike Savage's crack about Ann Coulter being a lady of the night; i.e., some kind of prostitute, was extremely mean spirited. I did not support Ann Coulter's cheerleading for Mitt Romney, but she still deserves better than that.

Savage might as well be working for Democrats to make conservatives look crazy

And that 1/7th of the population is after Hillary and Kerry (and Obama and Bush) unleashed many of the most criminal illegals amongst the rest of us:

>>> Savage might want to look over his shoulder..the latest round of people meter ratings show WOR is now beating WABC on Long Island, the New Jersey suburbs and Westchester County, though WABC still leads in the city. Probably the first time in 20 years WOR has beaten WABC in all three suburban markets <<<

This has nothing to do with Rush or Sean. It has everything to do with the Mets.

The May Talkers list is actually better news for Savage, he gained half a million listeners from last month while Sean lost half million. (Savage had 5 million Sean at 13.25)

By the way, Eric Stanger, the Vice President of Operations and Affiliate Marketing for The Sean Hannity Show has different audience numbers for Sean’s radio show: “In total, the Sean Hannity Show airs on more than 500 radio stations nationwide, with an estimated audience of over 11 million listeners”

I happen to really enjoy Eric Harley and Gary McNamara (Red Eye Radio overnight). I hope their place down on the list is mainly due to their time slot. I’ve been listening to them on IHeart to get an earlier start of the show out of Dallas rather than on the local West Coast station that starts at midnight.

He also savages Hannity (and others like Levine) without real justification. It is unbecoming, unwarranted, and unnecessary for Mike to be so overly critical of his conservative competition on the air.

We listen to him because we like what he says. It is true that he is being shunned and black listed by his cowardly conservative competition, including Rush. That can be galling.

His animal book (The Political Zoo) did a great job of characterizing his competition, dregs, and Democrats in an informative and entertaining manner.

Rush would have to untie the other half of his brain in order to compete head-to-head with Mike Savage!

I know that Clear Channel made a concerted effort to get the Mets after the Yankees broadcasts moved to their old flagship, WFAN. But I don’t see the Mets as that much of a draw; the franchise has been mis-managed forever, and there are lots of Yankees fans in some of the suburban markets, particularly northern New Jersey. This year’s version of the “Amazin’ Mets” is three games below .500, and they will suffer through another long and painful season. Don’t see them making the playoffs and don’t see them bringing in a lot of listeners to WOR. BTW, if you want to see a market where baseball makes the ratings move, look at Cincinnati; the Reds flagship (WLW) often sees a 25% increase in listenership during baaseball season, and the station is already #1 in the market.

Obviously, it would be helpful to have the numbers for each daypart on WOR and WABC (the ratings typically quoted are the averages from 6 am - midnight, Monday through Sunday). I’ve heard that Rush is doing as well on WOR as he did on WABC, but Hannity is trailing Savage, but not by much.

As I posted here a few months ago, it wouldn’t surprise me to see WOR catch—and pass—WABC in the city and the ‘burbs by early fall. And WOR is operating at a disadvantage, since their “new” morning show blew up after only a week on the air, and they don’t get much of an audience before Mark Simone and Rush come on the air. WABC has Imus; his best days were 20+ years ago, but he’s a known commodity in the market and his demos are pretty solid.

I listen to Rush, but there might be weeks in which I don’t. Therefore, on a monthly rating of listeners, a program is probably getting a percentage of those who do listen. So, it’s possible to have a higher TOTAL listenership number.

I was expecting to see Jim Rome in there. Maybe because he is considered sports, he doesn’t make the list. Previously he had over 2 million listeners.

I agree. Rome is about sports, and this rating is of political talk hosts.

Savage has said that the “Obama hates Israel” thing is fake, that Israel actually controls Obama. Then he turns around and says that Israel’s air force is afraid of Syria’s air force.

First, that’s a dumb thing to say, and then, if the Obama is really under Israel’s thumb, then why would Israel fear the Syrian air force with the US air force at Israel’s disposal?

I think Savage Weiner is nervous about his own Jewishness for whatever reason, so he overcompensates. (But ends up saying dumb stuff.)

Clark Howard isn’t in the same category at all, since he never is political. Ramsey occasionally is.

I hadn’t heard of Clark Howard. Looks like he’s something of a young Dave Ramsey in training. And it appears as if when he is being political he tries to posture as if he’s not:

I am active on a forum called Bellgab, which is mostly devoted to Coast to Coast. Most of the posters are deeply unhappy with Noory and reminisce about the days of Bell. My market no longer gets Somewhere in Time, which is sort of a Bell Best-of. I am not crazy about Noory—he’s kind of a lazy, by-the-numbers hack who takes the audience for granted. We all know the type. My favorite non-Bell host was Ian Punnet, but he left, mostly because he had tinnitus. John B.Wells was scary bad and they let him go.
Lately, Lisa Garr, Teri Garr’s neice, has been doing weekends.

There was a time when Hedgecock used to sit in for Rush a lot.
