Journalism even a few years ago was an honorable profession... Today there's a revolving door policy where political hacks pretend to be journalists and journalists sell out to the highest political bidder.
Americans trust of journalists is comparable to their trust in used car salesmen... that's a major fall from a dignified past.
I suspect the real reason Hollywood A-listers stayed away from the correspondent dinner last night was because journalists have lost so much respect. Rubbing shoulders with narcissistic buffoons is not the same as meeting Bob Woodward, Tim Russert, John Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, Walter Cronkite, Edward R. Murrow etc... the crop of pols and journalists today? Silly - childlike...
