Are these people delusional? Did they make such failed lives elsewhere?

People don't emigrate or immigrate or any kind of -grate unless things are collapsing in their present location.

Many people moved because they feared the worst. Generally speaking, they their country and how bad it really is. It probably is somewhat better in reality than how it is often portrayed.

I wish them well and hope it can be made to work.

No. Every one loves the land of their birth and you don’t feel the same when you live abroad.

There is a sense if you try to make a go of it, then it will work out in the end. For some of course, they can never adapt to being home again.

South African whites are not colonialists. They were the first free African people in an era when the West subjugated Africa to its will.

That history and feeling of being African will never leave someone who was born there.
