CORONA (CBSLA.com) An off-duty city of San Bernardino police officer was killed Thursday morning in a motorcycle crash, the department confirmed.
Shaun Jarvis, 30, was killed shortly before 9 a.m. on the westbound 91 Freeway at Main Street in Corona.
Jarvis was traveling at approximately 50 mph when he was sideswiped by a vehicle merging into the carpool lane, the California Highway Patrol said.
The force of the impact threw him from his bike, over the center divider and into eastbound lanes.
According to the CHP, the driver of a red sedan tried to stop, but could not and the vehicle hit the officer.

PRAYERS for him and his family. WHAT a most sad loss!
Because he was a young cop who died.
I owned a motorcycle in LA once, and nearly got sidewiped on the Santa Monica freeway and shortly afterwards sold the bike and bought a car.
It was a very frightening experience.
I feel extremely very sorry for the dead officer and his family.
Maybe it was a relative. We have kind of a community here. If the poster was looking for support I be willing to provide it.
If not 34,000 people die in auto accidents/year and if we posted every one it would kind of clog up the pipes here.
“Jarvis was traveling at approximately 50 mph when he was sideswiped by a vehicle merging into the carpool lane, the California Highway Patrol said.”
Sounds like he was in the carpool lane and didn’t belong there...
That’s what you get when you abuse the rules. A driver wouldn’t expect a motorcycle to be there.
If this accident doesn’t concern you, then get off the thread.
Just curious why this particular one is something that should be brought to our attention.
“f this accident doesnt concern you, then get off the thread.”
It doesn’t concern me... Am I banned from this thread too?
Motorcycles are free to use carpool lanes in California. In fact they are encouraged to use them because then they don't have to split lanes.
Then why are you posting here? There are hundreds of threads. Go find one that interests you.

Oh... That’s certainly not intuitive. Maybe the driver wasn’t from Kalafornia...
It is interesting because there aren’t 34,000 posts about people dying in auto accidents. And all of a sudden there is one.
I feel bad about everyone who dies in an auto accident. Since I can’t do anything about it I would prefer not to be inundated by it.
“Then why are you posting here? There are hundreds of threads. Go find one that interests you.”
We had a school buss cement truck collision in Boise last week. A kid died a bunch were injured. Maybe we should discuss that...
Get my point?
Use to live and work out of Corona. Rip!
Anyone can start a thread. Maybe you should have. Maybe it might have interested some freepers in Boise.
Get my point?
No. This one interests me. I drive that freeway every day. So go post your Boise thread and get off this one.
Westbound 91 at 9AM during rush hour on motorcycle in carpool lane. That’s five strikes. Sad for the officer and his family but he shouldn’t be there on his bike.
If you spent as much time participating in threads that interest you as you did on this thread which didn't interest you, you would probably be glued to your computer 25 hours a day.
I get it, you're not interested in this thread.
So get lost already.
As Hillary would say... “What difference does it make???”
