Rand Paul: Amnesty Legislation Could Pass This Year
Breitbart's Big Government ^ | April 25, 2014 | Tony Lee

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said he believes some type of amnesty legislation could pass this year.

Appearing at Harvard's Institute of Politics, Paul again said that he voted against the Senate's immigration bill because there were not enough visas for construction and farm workers and said he still thought "something could be passed this year" on immigration. Legislation has stalled after Sens. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) blasted the House GOP leadership's "immigration principles" as amnesty.

Paul then told the Harvard students that about 40% of illegal immigrants came to the country legally. Though many of these now illegal immigrants have overstayed their visas, Paul claimed that most of these illegal immigrants simply just got new jobs. He has also previously said that these illegal immigrants simply lost their documents.

The Congressional Budget Office has determined that the Senate's immigration bill would lower the wages of Americans workers, and Paul said he was against restrictions on visas that prevented immigrants from working in other fields. Paul, who is reportedly courting wealthy libertarian donors for a potential 2016 presidential bid, has been speaking up in favor of more visas and various forms of amnesty for country's illegal immigrants.

Earlier this week at the University of Chicago's Institute for Politics, Paul backed work visas for all of the country's illegal immigrants and said they should not be forced to leave the country when applying for citizenship. The day after his remarks, in a sign that Republicans may not win over Hispanics just by passing immigration reform, Latino leaders in Wisconsin promptly slammed him as being "offensive."(continued)

He’s an idiot. Even if you are some sort of wimp like Rand on the issue why would you do it less than a year before you control the senate.

Marco and Rand have always been for amnesty. Rand is a open border guy. Marco is all about the skin color.

Rand talked some tough game, ie getting rid of birth right citizenship. That lasted about a second.

Conservatives aren’t bright enough to fight this.

We should be demanding loudly that there must be real proven border border control before we’ll even discuss amnesty. Unfortunately I don’t see any real push to do it.

Amnesty and anti amnesty are pointless arguments with an open border. Even if we win, an open border provides all the amnesty an illegal needs.

How was President Eisenhower able to send almost all of them back to their native countries but we can’t even discuss it seriously?

You don’t want to discuss it, you want to rant about it.

Meanwhile you’ve given up on actually controlling the border.

Yep...you vote for it Rand, and your career in politics is done.

Any immigration reform should require anyone here illegally to leave within 90 days. Anyone found here after that date shall be charged with a felony, and deported. They should never be allowed to enter the USA ever again.

Anyone who had broken the law down to a traffic ticket is gone forever. Children brought here illegally shall be forced to leave as well however, as a consolation we will put them at the top of the list after everyone else who has actually followed the law and applied properly.

F*** amnesty. I like working with Mexican’s better than most American’s but you never, ever, never, ever reward someone for breaking your laws.

No rule of law = chaos and war.

Remember when Reagan did this? The promise was ‘never again’.

Ha

A solid majority of American’s do not support this crap. Why would ‘conservatives’?

Paul is an idiot.
