I know one thing , his movies are Looooooooong

He did a great job with the first Lord of the Rings Trilogy, but he is wearing a little long in the tooth.
The Desolation of Smaug pissed med off because Smuag was not desolated and they left us hanging.
Don’t care about the name, still want to see it.
If he made something called “Peter Jackson’s Storm Tour,” I’d see it. He’s just a really good film maker. Can’t say the same for Gavin Hood...
“The Desolation of Smaug” is actually the place on the map. It’s that part of the world under his grasp where he has destroyed the land. If you look on the Tolkien map, you will see it.
My complaint with the movie was that this great and terrible creature which could not be overcome and had taken over Erebor at the height of its power was taken head-on by a rag-tag band of wandering dwarfs. For good reason, it didn’t happen that way in the book and it shouldn’t have happened that way in the movie. The scene with Smaug was better in the cartoon where he was the great and terrible beast.
Didn't you read the book? Didn't/don't you know how Smaug meets his demise?
Those were my thoughts exactly when I saw the movie. I didn’t mind Jackson making stuff up that might have been going on outside the scope of the book but the direct change to the story line put me off.
Desolation of Smog
Jackson: “remind me to get a better title for the next movie”
Okay, warn me ahead of time. I had wanted to see it in the theatre but my son had to leave for a time and still have not seen it. Used to read the books once a year, every fall started the journey with Bilbo. I am gathering that the dragon doesn’t die at Dale?
The first one was retitled “Curing insomnia in 3 easy hours.”
The dragon doesn’t die until the next (third) movie so I would hope they at least get that part right. What Jackson did was instead of Bilbo seeing Smaug’s weaknes and running away they have a battle between the dragon and the dwarves inside the mountain. It doesn’t kill the dragon but that fight, rather than Bilbo’s riddles cuase the dragon to attack Dale. For me it made the jump from artistic license to direct contradiction of the book.
I didn’t like that cliffhanger at the end either...although there is more to go, there is something resolved at the end of each of the other movies. Oh well...the last installment will be here soon enough.
And in the movie, the “desolation” referred to was not desolating Smaug, but the desolation he caused.
Fair enough.
I just felt like I had to buy another movie ticket to see the end of the film.
I remember seeing that cartoon in 1983 in Christian school. Do you remember the name? I remember it being epic heh.
How about “The Hobbit Part Three: More Pointless CGI Than You’ve Ever Seen Before, But It Doesn’t Matter, Because You’ll Pay To See This No Matter What”
I suggest: “The Hobbit: Laughing to the Bank While Pissing on the Audience”.
Yeah, I thought the second installment sucked worse than the first did, as Jackson proves he doesn’t know what “character” means. When a cartoon done by a Japanese animation studio gets the characters right, and a 3 part movie backed by untold millions does not, there is something wrong.
It is simply "The Hobbit"
That scene reminded me of a Three Stooges movie it was so ridiculous.
