KUALA LUMPUR: The probe into the mysterious disappearance of the Malaysian jet is now looking at the possibility that the plane may have landed somewhere as no debris has been found so far, a media report has said.
A report in the New Strait Times quoting sources within the international team probing the disappearance said that among the areas it was revisiting was the possibility that the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 had landed elsewhere, instead of ending up in the southern Indian Ocean.
"We may have to regroup soon to look into this possibility if no positive results come back in the next few days ... but at the same time, the search mission in the Indian Ocean must go on," the source was quoted as saying.
"The thought of it landing somewhere else is not impossible, as we have not found a single debris that could be linked to MH370. However, the possibility of a specific country hiding the plane when more than 20 nations are searching for it, seems absurd," the sources said.
Another possibility was that the flight had crashed landed in a remote location, the source said.
Members of the International Investigation Team (IIT) who have been making efforts since day one to find the plane are now looking at the likelihood of starting from scratch, the report said.
The sources admitted to the daily that it was difficult to determine if the Boeing 777-200 had really ended in the Indian Ocean, though calculations carried out pointed to the direction.
They pointed out that the Malaysian-led investigation team, together with experts from Inmarsat and the United Kingdom's Air Accidents Investigation Branch, had to rely on a communications satellite, which did not provide any definite details, including the plane's direction, altitude and speed.
"A communications satellite is meant for communication... the name is self-explanatory. The reason investigators were forced to adopt a new algorithm to calculate the last known location of MH370 was because there was no global positioning system following the aircraft as the transponder went off 45 minutes into the flight," one of the sources was quoted as saying.
The IIT, the source said, was also looking at adding more assets to be deployed to the existing search area in the Indian Ocean, as well as widening the search area as they feared that the search team had been "looking for the plane in the wrong place".
The Beijing-bound Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 - carrying 239 people, including five Indians, an Indo-Canadian and 154 Chinese nationals - had mysteriously vanished on March 8 after taking off from Kuala Lumpur.

I don’t care who you are, that right there is funny. Git er done!
The Twilight Zone?
Aliens.
My No. 1 guess also.
Transforming it into a flying bomb destined for Israel or USA.
Apparently Israel is preparing for such a scenario.
The USA? la la la .
The Langoliers
As I recall Flight MH370 did respond to hourly ping signals from a satellite. The round-trip response time for this signal absolutely places the aircraft on either a Northern or a Southern great arc. The Northern route has been dismissed since the route would place the aircraft in the range of multiple civilian and military radar systems none of which detected the aircraft.
For the likely Southern Route there are no radar systems and few if any places to land.
MH370 will eventually be found a couple of miles deep in the ocean a thousand or two miles off the coast of Australia.
gold is dense...very heavy....a cubic inch is 11 oz.
Who the hell is gonna squeal..they all wind up dead.
The Truth Is Out There
Paging General McInerney. He blurted out information he probably should not have.
I wonder about those 20 high tech passengers who could have been playing with their instruments and interfered with communications. Also, the cargo has been described as ‘ion lithium batteries’. However, the cargo could have been unknown high tech equipment - activated by accident or intent.
Inasmuch as the ocean is unmapped, there are areas of the earth that are also vast and remote. Native people might have seen something, but have not notified CNN yet.
It is possible that it could have crashed landed or just crashed in a remote area, maybe jungle maybe desert.
Don’t tell me that it could not have evaded radar. The largest radar station in the world is located at Eglin AFB yet a Cuban bi-plane crop duster managed to land there without being detected.
My Father worked there at the time and a bunch of pilots took turns flying it to test radar.
How much information can be confirmed to have not originated from Malaysia?
Also Philip Wood worked for IBM..there were a lot of techies on this plane, who knows what some terrorist would want with all those people..the media just doesn’t want to admit that there is a chance this plane went North..they keep focusing on South but I think it went north, might have shadowed another plane..I think they call it piggybacking, would be difficult but look at everything else whoever was in the cockpit did, wouldn’t be too crazy to think he was shadowing another plane so that he could go to wherever he wanted and landed safely
What is the evidence of that? Are you saying the plane was hijacked and safely landed somewhere? Where? What evidence is there that this happened?
The plane is at the bottom of the Indian Ocean in a bazillion pieces at the hands of a deranged pilot (in my humble opinion). The Indian Ocean is deep and massive. Its perfectly understandable that not a trace has been found, especially if it went straight in.
Many planes have disappeared. Not many recently, but its happened. No one is monitoring the southern Indian Ocean. And what cargo could possibly be of interest? Seems like the plane itself would be more valuable than any cargo.
I think many media speculators have come to that exact conclusion. I’ve seen several discuss it.
General McInerney is, with all due respect, a quack. He said “sources” told him it landed in Pakistan. What sources? If he had a source, he should be outing him. Otherwise he’s talking out his rectal cavity.
