A top labor union blasted the Obama administration on Friday over what it described as a nakedly political decision to once again delay a decision on the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline.
Terry OSullivan, general president of the Laborers International Union of America (LIUNA), called the move gutless and a low blow to the working men and women of our country.
LIUNA is also a strong supporter of innovative oil and gas extraction techniques such as hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling that are helping to produce record amounts of oil in blue collar areas of the country that have struggled economically in recent decades.
The shale became a lifesaver and a lifeline for a lot of working families, Dennis Martire, LIUNAs mid-Atlantic regional manager, told the Associated Press.
Pipeline projects in Pennsylvania and West Virginia that carry oil from the Marcellus shale formation are large sources of work for LIUNA members in the area, Martire said. Members of the union worked 5.7 million hours on those projects in 2012, up from 400,000 hours in 2008, the AP reported.
It has created more work for our business. Theres jobs here for the first time in many, many years. Legitimate, good-paying jobs, one Pittsburgh-area contractor said of the fracking-induced oil boom, according to the AP.

Yeah....but come election time (when it really matters) the unions are always in bed with the.....
OBAMA earlier today What a dimwit..
“I have studied the issue closely, and evaluated the opinions of my most trusted advisors, and I have come to the conclusion that the Keystone XL pipeline is not in the best interests of the American people,” Obama said this morning.
“However, in the spirit of bipartisan cooperation, I am today sending a message to Congress that I will happily support a “Keystone LG” pipeline, or a “Keystone M” or, if Congress wishes, a “Keystone S” pipeline. However, I’m unalterably opposed to a ‘Keystone XS’ pipeline as it wouldn’t be economically viable.”
“See, my adminstration is not opposed to efforts to increase our energy independence; it’s just the scale of the project that we have to consider. The Keystone XL is just too big.”
When told by a reporter that the “XL” designation had nothing to do with the size of the pipeline, the President responded that “he was not aware of that until this very moment,” and then left the podium to board AF One.
This is a cynical saving face manuever for the unions to prevent an uprising amonst the union member “rabble” to keep them from revolting.....

There is a big picture of the great one on the wall when you go to the union hall
Communists complaining about how Fascism works.
The government owning all this land is socialism/communism . this land should be returned to private companies so that they can develop the vast oil resources
The federal government owns 86% of the land of Nevada . that is unconstitutional as this shows:
http://benswann.com/lofti-who-actually-owns-americas-land-a-deeper-look-at-the-bundy-ranch-crisis/
Nevada or individuals own that land not the federal government. that is pure marxism/socialism(fed owning all that land in Nevada and other states). the gov are using that land for environmentalism(communism/marxism) and corruption when private industry like that rancher Bundy, oil companies and others could be using it to produce oil , beef etc.
The U.S. State Departments Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement found that the project would support more than 42,000 direct and indirect jobs nationwide.
TransCanada has entered into comprehensive Project Labor Agreements with North Americas largest building trades unions, the Laborers International Union of North America, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO, the International Union of Operating Engineers and the Pipeline Contractors Association.
During construction, the project is expected to create over seven million hours of labor and over 13,000 new jobs for American workers.

That, too.
Why are they surprised? Obozo is an expert at ‘low blows’...................
By delaying Keystone, the tyrant can collect 2014 campaign cash from both sides of the issue. Good politics, bad for America (not that he gives a feces about America).
You realize the earlier posting of that today was satire?
The Green River Shale Formation does not contain crude oil that can be produced by drilling like the Bakken, Eagle Ford and Permian Basin.
It is “oil shale” rather than “shale oil”. (I know crappy terms). The Green River formation has to be retorted. The shale must be “cooked” so that Kerogen can be released from the rock. The Kerogen can be made into a synthetic crude oil.
It is not the same. It is far from the same economics and ability to produce.

What can one expect when one supports a non-, nay, an anti-American for President? Of COURSE Barack Al-Obama will oppose US interests every chance he gets!
Obama is doing to Americans what King Edward I (aka Longshanks) did to the Scots! What the English did to Sir William Wallace in real life was even WORSE than in the exquisite Mel Gibson film “Braveheart”!
Ask a Scotsman about Braveheart and they will tell you the only thing they got right was it rained a lot.
