By the time Gov. Brian Sandoval criticized the Bureau of Land Management for creating an “atmosphere of intimidation” while rounding up Cliven Bundy’s cattle, the militias were already on their way to Bunkerville, ground zero for what turned into an armed confrontation between gun-toting citizens and federal officers.
As governor, Sandoval had every right to weigh in and try to tamp down BLM’s tactics. It worked. Under political pressure and the threat of violence, the agency shut down the weeklong roundup April 12 and released several hundred “trespass cattle” that had roamed the federal public land for 20 years while Bundy refused to pay $1 million in BLM grazing fees.
“No cow justifies the atmosphere of intimidation which currently exists nor the limitation of constitutional rights that are sacred to all Nevadans,” Sandoval said in an April 8 statement in which he called on the BLM to take down designated “First Amendment” areas set aside for American flag-carrying demonstrators who were backing Bundy. “The BLM needs to reconsider its approach to this matter and act accordingly,” the Republican added.
Sandoval was just one of more than a dozen politicians and candidates from Nevada and neighboring states who publicly denounced the BLM, although views were sharply divided on whether the agency, backed by court orders, had the legal right to remove Bundy’s cattle from land his family maintains it has been on since the 1870s.
Each time a public official or political candidate spoke out for or against the BLM or Bundy, the comments added fuel to an already hot-burning fire that quickly turned into a national inferno, pitting the romantic image of the cowboy rancher against the behemoth federal government that owns 85 percent of the Silver State.

Uh, just where was Clark County Sheriff Gillespie and his deputies when the feds were doing their illegal "work"?
As I understand it this is Nevada State land.
The BlM so called managed it, and managed to run all the ranchers out of business. Which means nobody is employed or makes money and pays taxes.
Nevada has a budget deficit, it should take the land back from BLM, and bring in businesses and give them land free for 50 years to locate here and lower the unemployment rate.
Rumor is Reid is building a Solar power panel farm on the land, with Chinese money.
Reid sure hasn’t kept Nevada from having the most foreclosures and highest jobless rate.
In Vegas there are 50,000 bank repo-ed homes off market to be worked thru, plus another Vegas homes that have received notice of eviction and foreclosure in process now.
Yet as of the moment homes for sale in Vegas is in tight inventory.
As rates rise for a new mortgage to 5% and higher, this will
kill the real estate market, home building market, and hurt tax receipts.
Taking over the land from BLM is a good move for Sandoval
The entire Mexican Cession cost the US $15 million in 1848 (perhaps $300 million in current dollars). The land in question is a tiny fraction of 1/300th of the Mexican Cession.
The usual mysterious Dem, government accounting. I’ve read it’s about $200k when the goverment was pressed.

From the OathKeepers site, it is being reported that the Bundy daughter is telling everyone to ignore any information that is not posted on her facebookpage, as there is a lot of partial and downright wrong information being posted in far too many other places. Do not believe it unless she posts it as being true.
That is a good question. What was his swat truck doing out there? Protecting the Bundy's? The Vegas Police department is run by the sheriff's department.
Imposters crying wolf is what it is. Pretty soon nobody will pay attention when the time comes.
I saw the LVPD SWAT vehicle and a bunch of guys with a generic “Police” script on their assault uniforms, but have not seen any pics with a Clark County Sheriff ID on it.

It is not disputed that police were called to Costco, and upon seeing Scott, demanded that he drop his weapon (this was recorded on the 911 call, as well as confirmed by a witness). As Mr. Scott reached for his holstered gun (which never left the holster) to drop his weapon, police shot him 2 times in the chest, 5 times in the back, killing him (more here)."

Yeah, I remember Erik Scott.
The way I heard the story at the time, Erik Scott was planning a camping trip, and while in Costco, he was trying to see if some bottled water that Costco was selling would fit in his back pack.
A nervous Nellie employee caught a glimpse of Mr. Scott’s legal concealed firearm when he reached for the bottles, and called police, telling them that “a man with a gun” was in the store.
When Mr. Scott exited the store, he was told both to drop his weapon and put his hands up. When Mr. Scott tried to comply with the conflicting demands, he was shot and killed. Two of the Las Vegas Metro cops who shot Mr. Scott were later promoted!
The Costco security tapes and the police tapes were conveniently erased or “accidentally” destroyed.
