Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is the most popular politician in Texas, beating out Governor Rick Perry and Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX).
In addition, according to a new Public Policy Polling poll, Cruz leads the potential GOP 2016 field with 25% among Republican primary voters in Texas.
Jeb Bush comes in second with 14%. Mike Huckabee, Rand Paul, and Rick Perry are tied for third with 10% each. Chris Christie and Paul Ryan received 5% each in the poll, and Bobby Jindal and Marco Rubio got 4% each.

How is that a bad thing?
Cruz will have my vote.
Unfortunately, the Texas primary won’t mean much in 2016 because it is too late and the caucus voters in Iowa and the primary voters in New Hampshire could well put us well down the road to another non-electable candidate.

Which is why the GOPe will always see to it that the blue-leaning states of NH and IA will saddle us with unelectable candidates in perpetuity.
If Cruz runs, the early Republican primary debates will be key for his becoming known all over the US. Still plenty of time for him to become more widely known.
Chris Christie?!
Well if he is like Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry, Ted Cruz might as well pack it in. The debates are what sunk those two.
Huh?
That's true, but hopefully he won't be that clueless. Perry actually led several polls before he joined the debates.
But whatever happens, conservatives better decide on a candidate after the first couple of primaries or the blue states will once again pick a RINO for us. Looks like there'll be another field with five or more who'll be considered conservative and a couple of well known RINOs.
Cruz is whip-smart. His intellect is leagues ahead of everyone else. He’ll shine in the debates.
For any number of reasons, not the least of which is his Christian daughter, he's been slowly shedding his outward signs of leftism. The silly COEXIST sticker once on his car is gone. He now flies both the flags of America and Texas on his front porch. And, back during high school football season, while attending a game where his daughter was a cheerleader, he confessed that he voted for Ted Cruz, noting that he admired his intellect and frank honesty.
Even an MSNBC host, Chris Hayes, has grudging respect for our fine senator:
In October 2007, I sat in the media gallery of the United States Supreme Court and watched the Solicitor General of Texas [Ted Cruz] argue on behalf of the state that he should have the ability to put to death a Mexican national who had been convicted of raping and murdering two teenage girls in Houston. He won that argument and he was executed by Texas on August 5th, 2008, despite the objections of the United Nations and the International Court of Justice.
At the time, I had no idea who this man arguing on behalf of Texas was. but all I could think was holy c**p, this guy is good. It was one of his nine times arguing before the Supreme Court and he was witty, incredibly fast on his feet and clearly had a brilliant legal mind. It is to this day one of the most impressive displays I have ever seen before the Court and I have had the good fortune to spend a lot of time there.
Cruz will probably do OK.
Cruz graduated cum laude from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs in 1992.
While at Princeton, he competed for the American Whig-Cliosophic Society’s Debate Panel and won the top speaker award at both the 1992 U.S. National Debating Championship and the 1992 North American Debating Championship.
In 1992, he was named U.S. National Speaker of the Year and Team of the Year (with his debate partner, David Panton). Cruz was also a semi-finalist at the 1995 World Universities Debating Championship, making him Princetons highest-ranked debater at the championship. Princeton’s debate team later named their annual novice championship after Cruz.
Ted Cruz was a national debate champion I believe;have you not noticed how he devastates well established politicians without breaking stride? Debate is one of his strong points.
On his way to the Senate he tore Dewhurst apart on television and that is what pretty much sealed his victory.
Debate is one of his strong points.
If that was the case, he would have convinced his other Republicans and Democrats to pass bills he supports. To this day, he has unable to get any support for bills he wanted. Reagan was able to get not only the Republicans, but the Democrats to pass his bills. Sure he was President, but he still had to convince others to support his agenda. He was a true leader.
Your bias shows.
Reagan couldn't get today's democrats to support any part of his agenda.

Ted Cruz is not going to lose a debate.
Dang, naps, you must search out the Cruz threads. You’re on almost every one of them, badmouthing him.
Mitt Romney destroyed the Obamanation of Desolation in debates. Especially the first debate.
It didn’t help
The left don’t care about facts. The care about their “good intention” results don’t matter with intentions. It is all about being concerned, caring and kind in your heart
