Pope Francis inspired Catholics across the world last year when he visited a juvenile detention center in Rome to celebrate Holy Thursday, and tenderly washed the feel of a young Muslim woman. This year, he washed the feet disabled people in a ceremony that recalls Jesus' humble service and challenging message to the apostles--the "Servant of the servants" takes the path of radical sel-sacrifice that leads to the Cross.
Last night, a Rome's Don Gnocchi facility, which provides services for the elderly and disabled, Pope Francis celebrated the Mass of the Lord's Supper, and his homily recalled Jesus' striking actions:
He did it this way out of love. You too should love each other. Be servants in love.
Meanwhile, in San Francisco, the San Francisco Chronicle, reported that Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi , D-Ca, joined Episcopal Bishop Marc Andrus for a foot-washing ceremony at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in the city.
To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Churchin San Francisco.
Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship."
The Democratic leader's ceremony coincides with Pope Francis' similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week. As he did last year, the pope broke with the tradition of washing only priests' feet during the Mass for the Last Supper - this time, washing the feet of disabled people.
Will Congresswoman Pelosi inspire the same profound awareness of human dignity and the need for Christian service to the "fringes" that Pope Francis offered his flock?

ABC radio news leaves the impression it was a Catholic service not a service held in a PC Episcopal church. BTW Catholics are not suppose to be a major participant in such a service.
There is Catholicism, and then there is everything else under the sun. Maybe Pelosi may next time try washing the feet of Rev. Al Sharpton or Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Agreed but will say her supporters are worse than her.
She kind of reminds me of the former late night radio dude “Art Bell”, who we ‘all’ could agree was a nut job and had to be a conspiracy freak and all around nut job.
BUT when he went off the air - to his bunker somewhere in the “High Desert” - another announcer took his place and the show really didn’t miss a beat.
Which convinced me that ‘Art Bell’ was just ‘an ambulance chasing shyster’, providing an outlet for the ‘NUTZ’ that described their ride in a space ship and how they were preparing for the ____________, Bell was just their messenger and sounding board.
Just did some ‘research’ to find ‘High Desert’ - I thought he had said he was broadcasting from a bunker in the Western Mountains....ANYWAY, I was surprised to learn he was born on Camp Lejuene, (1945) his father a USMC Capt and mother a USMC DI...he served time during VN in the Air Force as a Medic and ran an underground ‘anti war’ radio station while stationed in Texas...

This is truly despicable on her part, to use a solemn commemoration cherished by many people of faith as an means to push one of her pet projects ... It’s similar to what fellow-traveler Obama did yesterday when addressing the recent Korean ferry tragedy, where he seamlessly switched into Salesman mode & segued to another shameless promotion of Obamacare.
The fact that she hasn’t been excommunicated yet, really pisses me off.
