That is a lot to ponder. I suppose it depends on one’s outlook and background. They know the risks. I haven’t read much on how the winter was there this season.
Happened at 6:30 am Nepal time. I imagine with Camp two being at the top of the Icefall, climbers were just moving through the area.
One of my distant relatives died on Mt. Everest.

I have to imagine their last thoughts would not reflect that sentiment.
The events in the eye witness accounts from "Into Thin Air" relate a story where one of the stranded climbers was repeating "I don't want to die, I don't want to die".
It breaks my heart to think of it. That is how I see death on Everest.
